thinking of hks supercharger, what else?

so I am looking at possible buying a used hks supercharger. I know nothing about the entire world of turbo and superchargers. I have tried my best to dig for answers. But I guess what I really need to know is if I buy it, do I need to purchase any other parts or needed components? Or is it as simple as buying the kit and hooking it up? I do not want to get a tune because that would cost more money, but I know it will just unlock more power. Can i add a supercharger on the stock tune and expect everything to run fine or will I get issues?

I'm actually selling my car, and was just about to post my supercharger for sale. I have the Sprintex 210 + intercooler kit. If you're looking for a great supercharger for the street, you'd be very happy with this. If you're tracking your car, you may want to look into a centrifugal supercharger such as Jackson.

You'll need to get it tuned. You can't force a bunch of air into the engine and not tune for it. You'll kill your engine.

Yes you need a tune or else you will likely melt the internals immediately.

You'll probably want the wheels / tires to be able to handle the additional power on top of the tune.

Okay that kind of comment really shows you have not done enough reading. Please for the love of god, do it right, or risk blowing your engine. Got to pay to play and a engine rebuild is not cheap.

I good tune might be the single most important thing for FI. I would get a catch can too. Not mandatory but a good idea

I'd advise looking through the FI threads. Especially the ones relating the the type of SC or TC you're interested in. But just to reiterate what others have said, you WILL need a tune. Plus, depending on who you go with, they may offer their own base tune. Or you can go with someone like Delicious Tuning, or OpenFlashTablet and get a decent tune.

Completely understand! I have it for sale in this thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81045

I'm asking $3,000 shipped for the intercooled version ($4700 retail).

Adding more power before anything else is the usual common mistake.

Before you add this SC, make sure you revise the cooling, the braking, the suspension, and tires.

For the SC, of course you need a tune, and preferably a custom tune on Dyno, this is the only guarantee to get a proper solution for you car, but it won't be cheap.

The kit + clean install, and tuning by a competent garage, could be anything between 6 to 10 k$
