Whiteout is the best color yet the pearl in it is just a bitch to match. Raven is a good color yet it just stays dirty.

So you guys drove it out of the shop and brought it back and explained to them that the colour didnt match? I heard it is hard to notice the color difference sometimes but under certain lightings there will be significant differences.

Really hope I am lucky with the first paint job. Fingers crossed.

Mine was obvious in all light conditions. It can be painted correctly the first time, but it takes a paint shop not in a hurry. The problem with the color is that it doesn't specify Pearl coats, and THAT is what makes the color. You are talking about the actual shade of the color as well as depth. The color will look dead on looking straight at it, but at any angle, the Pearl is gone and you are left with only the white.

Something else to consider is you are painted with water based paint here, different temp, humidity, etc. Whole new ball game.

My neighbor had their outback hit a couple months back. It's a similar color. A white with a pearl. They took it to a Chevy dealer who nailed it first time. I mean PERFECT. So it can be done. Just takes a good painter with some know how.

Thanks for the response! Your presence on the forum is appreciated man, glad you can pop back in to answer some questions!

I'm staying in frequent contact with the assessor who is looking after my car, asking him for updates every few days etc. I asked him what the process would be for painting the bumper and he did acknowledge it was a 3-stage process as it includes the pearl.

I'm probably going to give him a call on Tuesday just to see how the paint job is and I'm going to raise the concern that the paint has a hard time matching. Hopefully if I show that I care, they will care too.

Will keep you guys updated and once I get my car back I'll be taking some pics and you can all be the judge.

No worries! If you can talk them into it, have them MAKE test cards. One of the guys on here lives in LA and his panter came out, made 3 or 4 tests cards and didn't even need the car there while his wing was getting painted. That allows the painter to test the number of pearl coats to get it to work. I've got a pretty picky eye when it comes to paint, and I'll be honest, I couldn't tell a difference no matter how hard I tried.

No, they backed my tC out of the shop and I told them to pull it back in. Was not pleased.

So the shop is following up giving me some updates. My parts are getting ready to be painted and that I should expect it sometime mid this week, latest by the end of the week. I also brought up my concern regarding the difficulty matching the paint and how to are going to get it to match. They did mention that they used test cards to match the paint with the rest of the car.

It does give me a little bit of relief that they are doing this as Suave mentioned that was one of the ways to get it to match near perfect. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a great outcome!

My issue is that the car was painted in august-september (took well over a month in the shop..) And I didnt really start noticing the paint difference until about a month later and it was only at night. Now you can pretty much see the difference all of the time. Also the other issue is that it wasnt my bumper that was painted. It was most of the front and the whole drivers side of the car. It would be cheaper to paint the bumper but to "fix" it seems like they would really fight it so that they dont need to repaint the whole side of the car. Idk the whole situation sucks a lot..

I had this happen to me as well. My front bumper was resprayed and about a few months later it started chipping/flaking. I kept my service records, took it back and diplomatically stated how this is a quality issue. The owner took heed of my request and gladly repainted it. After that all was fine. Don't let them win. They may really fight it because in your head it seems like a hassle would ensue to get your car back to your satisfaction. Yet, that is their job and it does not matter how much of a hassle there is perceived or actually exists. You're not happy so you want it fixed. Take it back with service records in hand and request repairs. If not, you are to live with it. Sometimes confrontation is not fun yet is necessary if you want to make a change in your favor.

I'm not happy with the results. Here they are:

Please honest feedback from everyone. I refused to take the care because this isn't even a 70% match. The only thing that matched was that the color is white. The texture looks different up close and it is a lot brighter compared to the rest of the car. I can't explain it. Do you think they didn't even bother to add the pearl?

Another thing that I am upset about is that they drilled the license plate bracket into the front bumper. I SPECIFICALLY mentioned to them to NOT drill the license. They said they will plug it in. I am extremely frustrated and I'm not sure what to do if after they "fix" it and it still isn't fixed. Any input is greatly appreciated. I'm posting on my phone please excuse any grammar mistakes.

That really sucks. I don't know what else to say. I can see the difference, which is not good since I am viewing your pics on a craptastic work computer monitor.

I thought with the first pics it looked fine and figured "Oh here we go with another guy that is going to see something wrong even if it's perfect"
Then I got to the last pic and HOLY CRAP!
When you can see that much difference in a picture you know it sucks!!
