This I got it mid December so I'm sure season had something to do with it...I think they were fast approaching having the car on the lot for 3 months based on the oil change sticker their shop had applied to the windshield.

They had been asking 19k or something like that, but dropped their asking to 17k plus fees which got me to pursue the deal. I slowly worked them down to $16.5 including fees. They claimed they had 15.75k into the car on a trade...

Carfax was clean. I got plenty of photos, including undercarriage with the car on a lift. I am also a ASE Master Auto Tech and the car has factory warranty so I wasn't too scared about mechanical issues.

Of course I test drove one locally (they wanted 22k for a '13 with similar mileage)to confirm I wanted the car.

Its really not as risky as you might think. I explained to the dealer my knowledge of mechanics/body repair and they understood it would be a huge waste of everyone's time to have me come up discover some hidden issue. The last thing a nationwide franchise dealer wants is a scene on their showroom floor or bad yelp review etc...

I Paid $21,151 after all taxes, Licensing, extended warranty, and Gap coverages.

Vehicle had 6,913 miles on it at time I took owner ship and it is a 2013 Fr-S. I live in Arizona.

The question you should be also thinking about is what did they trade in for the vehicle. I had $5,000 in trade in from a 2007 subaru impreza and bought the vehicle in the end of 2013 (year of the vehicle)

So, I could likely buy a 2013 with the same miles for a LOT cheaper now because i could get away with haggling more. But at the time, the Fr-s was a hot product and neither or subaru or scion were budging on price much.

The price was a good deal but TN has a high sales tax, 9.25% to 9.75% depending on what county you live in. Vehicle registration costs though are low and we have no state income tax. The dealer and I went back and forth on the price and doc fee for 2 weeks before he caved.

2013 FR-S 10 Series #0182 MT. Bought it from Toyota a few weeks ago at the dealer where my wife works. The car had one previous owner who also worked there which is where he leased it from and returned it for a truck. Very well maintained with all service records and only 16K miles. I got out the door after tax, tag and fees here in NC for $20,780 after a $500 down payment. No trade in or anything. He had the dealer install TRD springs as well and I like them a lot. I'm more than pleased with it.

After all the hand-wringing over dropping prices, they actually leveled off.

Price: $23,500
Miles: 14,500
New/Used: Used certified by Scion
Colour: Whiteout
Extras: TRD exhaust, spoiler, BeSpoke
Title: Clean
Transmission: loud and clear!!! (lol) 6spd manual

Other bonuses: Extra key, free warranty on: rims, tires, paint (including interior), glass, electronics, double roadside assistance (so covers 100 miles free tow), 7yr/100k drivetrain and extended.... oh, and I forgot what else that is not covered by Toyota, but they were really good in offering stuff, especially after haggling for about 2hrs.

Averaged out that brand new for a 2014 this would have been easily $36,000 out of my pocket if I had paid for it all! Used it would have been $28,000+ ish.

It all averaged out iirc with the taxes though ;( But, not counting fees and such, $23,500. Saved approx 5k? Good deal imo.
