Some questions as I (try to) wind down my search...

A couple of questions, as I continue to look for a BRZ :-P ...

- What are the differences between the 2014 and 2015 BRZ Limited? Cosmetically I know the 2015 has a shark fin antenna while the 2014 does not - but are there any other differences I should be aware of? (Dealer I'm looking at has a 2014 in Gray and a 2015 in White - I'd prefer Gray over White, but for whatever reason they're not budging on the price of the 2014).

- When I went to the same dealer above (first snow today, was light, more mush than snow) - the 2015 BRZ wouldn't start, tried jump starting it and still had no luck. Was told that the battery on the car would be swapped, and I could test drive later in the week. Is this a major red flag, or should I chalk it up as nothing?

- Chrome Fender Trim - Yes or no? (Purely opinion based, I personally can't decide... Was originally all for it, but then when I learned it was really just a slap on sticker I soured a bit)

- I'm looking at a price, excluding fees, of $27,500 (this is an auto - laugh away, I've heard it all before... :-|), reasonable? unreasonable? I've seen manuals marked noticeably lower, having issues finding any autos around here (NJ).

Thanks, I'll probably have more questions so will post as they arise!

2015's have bigger exhaust tips and the dashboard trim is a darker color and carbon fiber textured as opposed to the smooth silver/grey of the previous years. I've linked to Subaru's press release announcement a couple of lines below.

The 2015's also received a revised suspension.

"Handling has been improved for 2015 with revised suspension dampers for smoother motion and absorption to help achieve optimum contact to uneven roads for a more enjoyable driving experience."

Depends on the color of the car. It looks good on the Lightning Red. It looks gaudy on the more muted colors.

And it's not a sticker, but a plastic overlay that sticks on with body tape. If you get it and don't like it, you can always carefully peel it off and sell it in the member classified area.

Yeah, on some colors like red or black, it looks good, but on some colors, it's kinda distracting to the overall lines...

Random internet stranger opinion:

1: Doesn't matter imo
2: Would it not start due to battery being dead or due to something else? I'm surprised jumping it didn't work, that's a red flag imo that there's other issues going on. If you're sure it was just a dead battery due to sitting I don't think you'll have any problems long term.
3: Chrome is dead imo, fugly on modern cars.
4: A little high unless you're looking at the higher trim package imo, price it out online for MSRP exactly what you want, don't pay a penny more, ideally a bit less.
5: Tranny is personal and if it's a fun weekend car and semi-practical DD you'll likely be pretty happy with the Auto, if you're searching for something special, some otherworldly meaning or want or would like to try a manual now is the time to figure it out, no regrets.

Not entirely sure about the battery, it's a new car with next to no mileage, and I got the feeling that the saleswoman wasn't too car saavy...

No to chrome trim IMO and price seems decent for an auto 2015.

2015 also added knee pads over the speakers in the doors and dash. They look nicer and are functional (cushioning) when cornering.

I would check out Kelly Blue Book and True Car online for pricing on new cars in your area. I purchased my 2015 BRZ premium (manual with no options) for $25,300 in December, which matched Trucar and was about $200 over KBB fair price. I paid approximately the invoice price, which was over $1000 below MSRP.

Thanks. I think I'm just overanalyzing now... Truecar spits out an average of $29,795 paid, while after fees (excluding taxes) I'd be paying $28,191.

Looking at things again, I think based on your price, and some of the other prices posters here have been kind enough to share - this price is reasonable.

A Limited typically starts at $2,000 more than the premium and then the fact that it's an auto tacks on $1,100 to the MSRP... Not necessarily saying that that extra $3,100 is entirely justified but I'm resigned to the fact that a good chunk of that I won't be able to negotiate away.

Also for kicks I calculated straight MRSP below:

Limited: $27,695
Automatic: $1,100
Destination: $795
Rear Bumper Applique: $70
Rear Bumper Diffuser: $795
Auto-Dim Mirror: $175
Wheel Lock: $30
-------------------------------
Total: $30,660

Now it's just a question if I want to settle for the white 2015 or get the gray I wanted but a 2014...

If you're buying a car new, get exactly the color you want. Accept your second choice only when buying used or getting a great deal on new.

Yeah my hope is that I can take this price and show it to the local dealer who's literally 15 minutes away and get them to come down... One issue is they don't have an auto on lot so they might not be as amicable to coming down in price or throwing in some of the features to match...

In terms of Colors I had them ranked: 1. Blue or Gray (can't decide) and 3. White... Don't want either the Black or Red...

If that fails... Might just pull the trigger.
