I bought an auto, test drove a manual, and my car before was a manual. While I do miss going through the gears by myself, I don't miss manual in stop and go traffic, I don't miss having to time sips of coffee between gear changes and I don't miss having to stay sober while out with friends because they can't drive stick.

I don't need to drive stick to prove I have one.

Nobody said you needed to prove anything.. some people like to stroke their stick, others like to flap it around . Even with a 100-mile a day commute in mostly shit Seattle/Bellevue stop and go traffic, suited 90% of the time, with mcdonalds shit coffee cups in my holder more oft than naught, I couldn't bring myself to get an auto no matter how attractive its luxuries. It's just the stroke in me man.

as evidenced by members on this forum, these autos are a blast. These manuals are a blast. Autos for auto-xing are crushing game. Manuals have been the choice of the majority of auto-x drivers. Imagine the hurt feels from manual elitists who get beat by auto twins. Also imagine the feelings of want from bored autos wanting more play action. Imagine a world where people judge others not on the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character. Imagine that one day, every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the LORD shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."

Gentlemen, I HAVE A DREAM.

Good thing I don't let my transmission choice affect the size of my dong

I own both autos and manuals, and guess what...I paid for them...so who cares what other people say, drive both transmissions and get what suits your life

My dong operates in both auto and manual mode. Both are fun. The crowd who can't have fun with an auto (trans or dong) probably don't know how to use either one.

Sigh. So now anyone who bought an auto must be a woman? Horrible statements like these are why I often hate the internet. BRB I can bench 300, only WOMEN can't bench 300!! See how chauvinistic and ignorant that sounds?

Convenience aside, there are people who drive automatics for reasons tiny brains can't conceive of; medical or other disabilities being the most obvious.

I am asking because we just bought another car for the family so I am delaying my purchase of the frs or w/e else I may want to get (upcoming M2). One possibility is that I sell my beater now ( to get rid of all this shit used cars that keep breaking up) and get an auto corolla. The car has to be auto because it will be my kid brother's who just got his license and well he is classified as disabled by the state... and so it is a pretty big deal for him. I was thinking instead of a corolla... we should just get an Auto frs. I can get myself a M2 later on ( there is still time in its release).

Its not like I am vin diesel doing some underground racing shit or Mike Kang. It is just a fun, nice looking car for any of us. And an auto frs is better than an auto corolla any day.

It will drop as many gears as you pull on the flappy paddle.

I have an obnoxious uphill (30-40% grade) stop and go commute when I'm out of my mind tired so I got an auto. My fam uses it sometimes too. I modded it and track it, and am plenty fast in corners, passed some much nicer cars. I only drive it in M mode, as I like manual trans but also enjoy the convenience of not having to ebrake my entire commute lol. Lockup clutch is engaged after first anyway so it's a rigid transmission, no torque converter really once you get going. It's still incredibly responsive and enjoyable and will hit the rev limiter and cut the engine before it will shift without you.

Auto frs is incredibly fun.

.. which reminds me.

At the last event, we had a guy come out with his auto FRS.

I didn't realize what was going on at first, but he was in a WHEELCHAIR and is disabled.

And drove his car on the track.

No names unless he wants to say something, but I thought that guy had more balls than 99.999% of members here.

In a fucking auto.

Good for you. If I ran that in my manual BRZ, no doubt I would be way down near the bottom. And yet I would still be having more fun than if I were driving an automatic. If I cared about having the fastest car, I wouldn't have bought this one.

It's a stereotypical joke. Relax. Either way, this car was concieved with manual transmission in mind. The slushbox I'm sure was an after thought for cry babies who don't or want to row gears.

Besides, this is a driver's car. Manual gearbox required!

No need for pics, many parts of San Francisco are like this so it's easily replicated across different areas of the country.

If I lived in SF I would definitely have an auto, the problem isn't normal driving, it's driving in the rain + managing traffic + pedestrians.
