Thanks

Thank you for taking the time/effort to weigh all these parts. There's a lot of useful information in your original post, and seeing a picture of each item on the scale just makes it that much better.

I was looking at seats and it seems like a TON of weight can be saved by replacing them.

That still a ways away though. Still need to fix my driveshaft and final drive situation...

Yes, I'll make a DIY for the battery tray solution, but... spoiler alert... I'm just going to drill some holes in my firewall and zip tie that bitch to the firewall. The end.

LOL but my diffuser is going to be absurdly complex. Excuse my drunkeness. I don't know where I live right now.

well, that's not super exciting although I guess leave it to you to have a light weight solution (you sure those zip ties aren't gonna be too much) :P
And there we have it. No DIY necessary. I'm going to clean it up one day, but it's quite solid as is.

And the battery works really well so far.

I love the battery tie down. Would never get into a motorsport event (at least in NZ) with it like that though. They're hyper anal about battery tie down.

Yeah, it won't fly here either.

Except for around corners. On the street.

I know the battery's already been done in the beginning of this thread, but here's mine too, just for scale numbers comparisons. And more importantly, the smaller bits that I don't think were ever listed in this thread.

29.188lbs - OEM battery
00.038lbs - Positive terminal cover thing
00.375lbs - OEM battery tie down
00.113lbs - OEM battery tray

29.714lbs - Total

I weighed the door speakers, they only weigh 189 g or 0.416 lbs each.

Either they sell the US version with different door speakers or this number of 4.75 lbs for both speakers is incorrect:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...47&postcount=2

I bought two smaller speakers (since I thought 4.75 lbs is pretty hefty and didn't double check the weight before I removed the door panel and speaker) and the lightest aftermarket speakers I could find with a reasonable effort weighed 478 g or 1.05 lbs each.
So, 0.416 lbs for the 6.5" stock speakers is actually quite impressive.

Hmm. Weird. You can hold one and tell it weighs about 2 pounds. Those magnets ain't no joke.

It is apparently a different speaker.
The membrane on mine looks different (it's paper). The rest is all plastic and the magnets on mine must be tiny (max. speaker power is 40 W).

(It's odd those cars are significantly more expensive in Europe than in the US but they appear to install cheaper components in the European version. For instance, the steering wheel airbag has also only one as opposed to two detonation capsules.)
