I guess no one has had a scion Tc before but the 6.5s look exactly the same and use the same shape mounting bracket so check out a 05-08 Tc mounting adapter. I don't have my frs yet so I can't check and just sold my Tc so can't check there either.

Thanks for the pics on this. Very helpful!
The stock speakers on the car is pretty mediocre. What are the available 3-way separates out there? I wouldn't mind stepping up to something high end like Dynaudio (for us old school ppl) but there isn't much depth there and not sure the factory amps can push them. Looking for Focal, Alpine, Boston, Polk, or any decent and efficient brand that carries a 3-way setup. Suggestions anyone? |

Im on the fence between CDT audio 3-ways and Hertz Hi Energy 3-ways.
CDT needs a lot of power to sound the way they should, both pairs Range from 500-700 |

How are everyone's speakers holding up? Thanks for this thread, by the way! Tons of help for when I finally get this project started!

Do we have an exact measurement of the total depth available for the dash 3.5" speakers? All I see are approximations, don't want to order speakers that don't end up fitting. Looking to install 4" speakers with a depth of 2.56 inches / 65 mm. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=264-848

What is in the dash under the mid drivers? Is it anything that can be moved to make more space for a small sealed enclosure under the drivers?

I'm collecting so much information, I can't wait for the 14s to come out so I can buy a car.

So much for waiting for the 14 model year.
Does anyone know where the wiring that carries the signal to the rear mounted amplifier splits off from the rest? In other words, where is the place closest to the front of the car where you can tap into the signal leads without affecting the leads going to the dash speakers? Also, if the keeper of the thread could add the frequency range each speaker is handling and where, if any, crossovers might be located to the first post, it would be useful, assuming we have that information. Budget installs replace as little wiring as possible. Edit: Answering my own question. There is a "T" connection in the dash behind the HU. All the wires appear to be full range. All the speakers in the dash have high pass caps on them. We tapped in at that T to get full range to send to my amp. My installer doesn't like using the signal from the factory amp at the rear of the car and would rather put a LOC behind the HU that he can adjust and use a high grade twisted pair wire to carry the signal back to the amp.

My installer used MDF and coated it with spray on bedliner.

i am running these in the dash location https://www.parts-express.com/dayton...8-ohm--295-349 2.1" depth, they are sitting on the ductwork below the speaker, and the oem bolts plus some aluminum flat stock are holding them down to keep them from going anywhere. secure, but kinda hokey, and to my ears sounds more natural then any tweeter i've stuck up there to reflect off the glass. potato shot: ![]()

In reviving this old thread, and since this question was never answered, I did some testing of the front stage since I was curious myself. Here are the results: 1-inch Tweeters Impedance is rated at 4 ohms. The measured DC resistance of the ones in my dash were 3.0 ohms. The capacitors inline with the voice coil acting as a 6-db/octave high-pass filter are rated at 2.7 microfarads at 50 volts for an intended crossover value of 14.7kHz as rated. The actual measurements of the capacitors were 2.9 microfarads. Note that the tweeters are built identical to each other, meaning that they can be swapped from left to right. 3-inch Dash Midrange Drivers Impedance is rated at 4 ohms. The measured DC resistance of the ones in my dash were 3.9 ohms. The capacitors inline with the voice coil acting as a 6-db/octave high-pass filter are rated at 10 microfarads at 100 volts for an intended crossover value of 3,975 Hz as rated. The actual measurements of the capacitors were 11.2 microfarads for left and 11.3 microfarads for right (obviously within tolerance of each other). Note that the dash midrange drivers are built as mirror images of each other, (for the most part) meaning that they CANNOT be swapped from left to right. 6-inch Door Midbass Drivers Impedance is rated at 2 ohms. The measured DC resistance of the ones in my doors were 2.7 ohms. These speakers have no passive filters inline with the voice coils. The filtering is done within the door speaker amplifier which has a low-pass filter and a sub-sonic filter, values of each are to be determined at a later date. When I determine this, or when someone else does I will post these amp crossover values here. Edit 7-3-21: Here is the frequency response curve for the door speaker amplifier. It shows a usable frequency band of about 8Hz to about 350Hz. Thank you to @LimitedSlip for his contribution to the graph. End of edit. Note that the door midbass drivers are built identical to each other, meaning that they can be swapped from left to right. Since I am not replacing rear speakers in my car, nor am I using them in my all-aftermarket build, I have not attempted to access them. I have chosen simply to keep them disconnected behind the head unit, therefore someone else can determine the specifications of those if they wish to do so. Also, since no information has been published on frequency response or power handling or any of the other T/S parameters for any of these drivers, it is still a mystery. I currently have no way of testing those.
