Small SUV? That's an Impreza with a lift kit. 5 guys and all their shit into an entry level 5 door.

Yep. I'd still consider it a small SUV/crossover due to the decent ground clearance, suspension, and AWD system, but it's definitely not something I would chose for a 5 guy, 10 day road trip through the mountains. Hell, an Outback would still be on the small side for that (especially for the 3 poor people crammed in the back), and it's noticeably bigger than a Crosstrek.

4 guys. I am not complaining I just said, I would never do it again in a vehicle like that.

I went from a full frame Yukon SUV to an Acadia CUV. I need (not want) three rows of seats for carpooling to high school. I want something that I can just throw some bikes into the back and know they are secure being inside. I didn't need towing capacity. I enjoy the better fuel economy switching from a V8 to a 6. Because of the transverse 6 layout, the Acadia is shorter overall than the Yukon but actually has significantly more room inside, so it is more comfortable for rear seat passengers and fits better in the garage. I suppose a minivan would have provided similar utility, but for the same price, I got something that looks a lot better, has a better view of the road, and has heavier duty suspension components. The Acadia has the same brakes and other parts as the Yukon, and so far they seem to be lasting forever. No regrets at all.

It looks just as good as the rest of their lineup.

If only Mazda made a truck that could tow my enclosed, I would own all Mazdas with what they're doing.

As far as CUV's go.. I'd rather have this than a Nissan Juke or a Subaru anything (because mileage/looks) and especially over a Honda HRV.
