What kind of phone was this head unit made for?

Obviously, it wasn't made for my HTC One. I finally had to delete my phone from the devices and start over and not allow access to messaging because nine out of ten times when I would get a text or email while driving it would repeat, "You have a new message" over and over, and then freeze while trying to download it. Such a shame, because it was very convenient the couple of times it actually worked.

The message feature annoyed the crap out of me too. For days nothing would happen. Then suddenly it would decide every message I've received (and opened) since the last time it worked were new messages. So I'd sit there canceling like 150 prompts while it repeated "you have a new message" over and over.

I'd definitely be curious to know if anyone has gotten that feature to work properly. I have a Note 3, by the way.

It did the same thing with my LG G2, recently it started randomly disconnecting and reconnecting as I drive down the road so I finally just deleted my phone and never re-added it.

I hat the stock head unit. It sucks.

EDIT: And I'm one of the few people who has actually defended it for being "not THAT bad." I was wrong, it takes forever to load up navigation upon start up, it's balls slow the touch only interface is shit and it doesn't even Bluetooth properly.

Mine worked just fine with my HTC One. It would actually read the message to me but I had to navigate to the feature (probably could have used voice commands but I never tried this). It was giving me all my texts and email and it was too much so I (eventually) figured out how to turn this off.

LG - the Bluetooth works fine for just phone calls, but a couple of times head unit randomly decided to start replaying saved voice mails. Completely freaked me out when my daughter's voice started coming through the speakers!

I didn't know it could read/tell you have messages.

I have a Nexus 5 connected, and just stream bluetooth music.

I'm guessing, based on these responses, that in general, it might have been tested and optimized mostly for the iPhone. I mentioned my message issues to a coworker who drives a Mercedes today and he declared that, "Of course that car is an iPhone user." I didn't know I bought a car that stereotyped my communication device.

You have to keep a clean text message list on android for it to function correctly. It's a quirk of android, not the car.

Didn't think of that. You mean delete all your texts before entering the car?

Clean as in deleted? Well that's irritating, lol.
