@SubieNate, sorry about your car.

Here are links to dashcam FAQ's and reviews.

If you choose to buy compare specs carefully, especially on eBay. There are many knockoffs of the better dashcams that aren't even close to the real thing, the biggest tip off being the type of video chip.

My MR2 got hit pretty bad while parked and the person drove off without leaving a note. To replace all the damaged parts with new ones would've been a nice 1.5k, most of which I'd pocket by just putting some touchup paint on and waiting for the next jackass to hit the car and pay for more damages. It also had the same thing happen to the OP, but no dents luckily. The bumper had been swiped by some incompetent people trying to parallel park as well. Damn, now that I think about it, a dashcam would've gotten me quite a bit of damage payment.
Nope never had problem with battery drainage. I got it installed with a power pack. It will stop recording when it senses the battery is getting low. When you park, the cam will switch to parking mode and only record when it detects motion.

This is why I chose to live outside Isla Vista. However, I did park my car there while attending a party. I consumed alcohol that night and got a ride home from a designated driver. The next day there were footprints on the roof and hood, along with dents.

Something terrible happens to children when they move off to college; I live near Santa Clara University and I see this exact same behavior. So while many are quick to malign Isla Vista (rightly so, in many cases), this behavior isn't limited to this town.

I was at a well respected upper end private college... It's not limited to one demographic or location.

I took the car in yesterday, repairs start in two weeks. New hood, the roof will get body worked and painted, and the trunk will likely need paint and adjustment as well.

Can someone take a pic of the seam between the trunk and the quarter for me? I'm unsure of how that gap is supposed to line up.
