In my opinion, the BRZ rewards good driving. If you know what you're doing, it's incredibly easy to access the zip you're looking for.

If you're one of those people that just point the car and slam on the gas, then no, you're probably going to be left wanting. You need to carefully manage the engine RPM to accelerate and pass, optimally. Personally, I like this. If I wanted a car that just accelerated fast, I wouldn't have bought a BRZ.

The car has never felt sluggish to me. It won't slam you back in your seat, but it's not designed to. If you leave it in 6th and try to accelerate hard at 3500rpm, you're probably going to be disappointed.

You will have to drive it. ITR is something of different, subjective test is always different than what the 0-60 suggests. I am pulling on my ZX6R feeling slow and it rocks to 60 in 3's, on the other hand, the other day I drove the rental V6 Fusion and it feels torquey and quick, but according to 0-60 it's a slow car. Also, the feel from a roll is different than 0-60, FF vs FR...

Again, it's a car for turns, not straight line.

2000 - 3500 rpm is actually pretty impressive, but the "torque dip" is noticeable. The couple of times I have went over 4000 rpm, the power picks right back up at 4500+

It's not fast, but it's still a great car. I plan on making it faster, which should be fun to do.

The guy who said 3k is somewhat mistaken, it's 2600-2700rpm. So low rpms compared to a lot of sports cars, but a good deal higher than these days' economy cars that really squeeze a lot of mpg out. If you go for displacement x revs, you'll see it's in theory around the same power available in 6th gear as your typical 2ZZ powered car but the car is heavier than most 2ZZ powered cars so it might be sluggish on the highway for some people's tastes.

(IMHO, and I say this way too often, but if you have good passing power in the last gear on an NA engine, and your car isn't a complete featherweight, the gearing is wrong :P)

I was doing 97 the other day because of this XD, the auto is great

the only time it felt sluggish to me was when the car decided to hold a higher gear going up a steep hill with around 2k rpm while maintaining the throttle. Of course giving it a little more gas was enough for it to downshift, or a quick tap on the downshift paddle solved it.

Other than that I don't think it was ever sluggish in AT even with the camry mode on. Well it also helps that I expect the car to behave more economically in camry mode. I go full manual mode when I want the car to perform

My last car was a ~300 whp turbo cobalt SS, and while this car can't compete in a straight line, it is by no means sluggish.

I thought its pickup was excellent in the MT that I drove! And I had just been driving a 500HP Supra. I was pleasantly surprised and I only took it to 5.5k RPM or so.

After a couple days of zipping around in my MT BRZ, I have to say the car doesn't feel sluggish at all. It isn't super fast, especially since I'm keeping it (in general) under 4k rpm, but it goes when I want it to go and FEELS fast and exciting even at the lower speeds.

It's all about perspective. Going full throttle on my '07 GSX-R 600 on an on-ramp gets my heart going faster and smiling wider than any car I've ever been in.

That being said, the BRZ is definitely not the fastest accelerating car by any means, but it's not slow either. As cliche as this sounds, you're comparing apples and oranges when you compare the BRZ with practically any other car. Just try and get yourself in one and do more than go in a straight line .

As stated above, you'd have to have driven the ITR to make a valid opinion about it. You'd quickly forget about the numbers on the paper once you're behind the wheel.

How do I get the feeling that we feed another 'number-addicted-troll'?

Sluggish... right. Go drive one and than post this nonsense. The car is precise, agile, nimble, always on its tows. I have to try really hard to be within reasonable city limits in it. It wants to drive fast, very fast. It wants you to throw it around.

Having most of its torque available at low RPMs is rewarding. And having such brilliant and quick-shifting AT is a revelation to me. Sluggish, yes... right... troll.

Sorry I just checked again I stand corrected. At 69-70MPH is when the RPM's hit 3k, I never drive 60mph so I was just making an estimate. You are correct sir, 2600 rpm for 60mph
