2015 BRZ ST vs 2016 Jag F-Type R Spec
Hi everyone,
I am new to the thread, and just bought my new 2 Months Ago 2016 pearl white BRZ - Sports Tech - but for this comparison, I was using a 2015 BRZ ST. I currently own a 2012 black edition c63 and also a Jaguar F-Type R Spec 2016. Some of you may question why I am putting these two up against each other, but there is a good reason. First let me tell you about myself and why I have these cars. I have been a car enthusiast all my life. I also had a sigma that the faster the car in a straight line, the faster the car is in general growing up through my teens and into my twenties. Oh boy I was wrong!!! My first car that ever taught me this was the good old Honda S2000. Man I miss that car! I will probably get a lot of flame for this, but the Honda S2000 is probably the best car I have ever driven by along shot and yes STOCKED. And YES this includes all of the above stated... Any who, I am a weekend track runner, and run both the jag and BRZ my cars on the track at least once every two weeks. Yes I am very fortunate to be able to do this. I will acknowledge this. As a regular track runner, I feel obligated to tell you my thoughts about both 2016 cars I have. Both of these cars are stocked btw. I would put my C63, but because of tuning, this car blows both of these out of the water.. with relative ease. With that being said, what is the difference driving a 2016 F-type R spec vs 2016 BRZ sports tech? Well to be honest its Stun vs Fun. Besides the power and torque the F-Type R spec provides, I just cant get over how hard I can go in the BRZ on any circuit track. The enjoyment and the reward this car provides the driver, far outweighs any of my more "prestigious" cars. If you are a track runner like I am, this car is a must! Obviously to get the most of the car you need some Michelin Pilot Super Sports for that extra grip for those high speed and easily controllable drifts. The stock wheels on this car do not do it justice... at all.. they are like seriously bad... and I would recommend anyone who wants to drive this car as it was meant to be - to get the tires as I stated above. Besides the wheels, the only other design of this car that bothers me and perhaps most of you is the torque dip. I get torque dip helps with fuel economy... BLAH BLAH BLAH... Torque dip doesn't really affect me on the track, but in the country roads - I can totally see where this can be an implication for some. Toss in a couple grand get a header + Exhaust combo - cheaper when buying both most of the time + the labor is cheaper when installing both. You will dramatically see the difference. I would always suggest Invidia for BRZ - if you want that true Subaru feel. As for exhaust well depends on your character. If you put those on your stocked BRZ!!! THIS THING IS OFFICALLY A BEAST! The reward, the fun, the thrill!! I haven't had thrills like this since I had my Honda S2000 (which ironically got written off on track because of a douche in a 911 turbo). So to my point... You don't need a expensive car to be rewarded for the drive, you just need a $35k (I live in Canada) BRZ - good tires, good header - decent exhaust... NO TURBO... NO SUPERCHARGE.. seems silly really.. if you really want the supercharge or turbo just go buy a older Cayman. This car does not need any additional horsepower. I have driven many cars, many super sports, and many luxuries.. and this car is in my top 3 for track running. Next to Honda S2000 and the 12 Nissan GT-R. Anyone who knows anything about cars know this car is a beast, anyone who comes up to you saying well you only have 200 HP... LOL they obviously don't know or understand mechanics of a car. The reward to drive in this car is unparalleled. 4.9/5 - with adjustments this car is a icon in itself 5/5. I will be posting my video of this track day in the coming days and also comparing many super sports to my new BRZ in the near future. Please feel free to message me if you have questions related to track. As my track experience is extensive to say the least. |

Loving the BRZ so far. I was surprised by how much road noise there is, but it's doing everything right, so I can't stop smiling every time I get in. |

Hey guys, new guy here. I've always been interested in the twins since they were released and tossed around the idea of getting one to replace one my my Toyota MR2 spyders. Well, I put the 2zz swapped spyder that I daily up for sale as my shop got a 2013 BRZ limited in that I'm going to rebuild and daily. No big plans except bumper swap, ft86 airbag, debadge the rear, different fender inserts, getting rid of the BRZ wing for something with better lines, and changing out wheels and tires since this one has some ugly wheels and snow tires currently.

Hello all
So I've probably done 20 +hours of reading on here lol. So I decided why not join. It's is the 1st forums I have ever joined. One of the reasons was I definitely need help and I know a lot of you like me has done tons of research before you do anything to your car.I've been looking for rims for about a month now and can't decide on anything. I'm sure there's a thred for me to go to ask so I'll wait to see if I can post it here or where I'm supposed to go lol. I read the tire and rims post. It was fantastic and helped out a lot! Thanks for letting me join, if someone wants to point me where to go about my rims questions let me know please. Thanks! |

Holy crap, I really get it now.
I'm sitting here waiting to pull the trigger on a 2017 BRZ, getting my vicarious thrills off the forum and endless youtube vids. I intend to pay down in June, and would have an October delivery. But I've never driven one.
Today I saw a 2013 86 on a dealer's lot, and stopped & got a test drive. After reading all those posts and hearing all those reviews I know about the notorious lack of power/torque off the line, and the torque dips. All I can say is that in my 15 minute drive none of that felt significant. The directness and connectedness of driving this car is amazing. It's like you think it, and the car does it. My DD is a 2.0 Passat and when I got back behind the wheel it was like I was feeling the steering and suspension through a thick layer of marshmallows. I now have zero reservations and can't wait until I take delivery. |
