And I once had a guy friend who bought a gorgeous S2000. You'd figure guy + S2000 = enthusiast? I asked him what he thought of the VTEC, and he asked, "What's VTEC?" I explained, and he said, "Oh... well I never rev it that high." Sigh. And yet my best (girl) friend can tell you the exact year of any (older, carbureter) Camaro, just by catching a glimpse of a corner or something. She talks about blocks and shifters and... I have no idea what she's talking about, lol. Most people on forums assume I'm a guy because I know a LOT about my RX-8. But I've never worked on it beyond routine stuff. I just like to be a very informed consumer, so I read everything I can about it so I don't get tricked by mechanics when something goes wrong. Besides, I bought my RX-8 (and would consider the BRZ) because I enjoy driving cars, not working on them. I love the feeling of dancing, the motion, the oneness with the road. The threads about "pulling on someone" or stoplight racing mean nothing to me. But let me dance with a great car along a winding road, no one else in sight... it's just heaven ![]() So yea, stereotypes can be silly

I'm right there with you, R8! I'm getting the BRZ so I can retire my old clunker sports cars and spend more time driving; less time wrenching. People think I actually enjoy wrenching, but that's definitely not the case. I like driving!

I've been doing cars and the internet for a long time. On any given board, you're pretty much bound to find a 93/7 split in the women that are present.
93% Attention whore. These girls like boys. Boys like cars. They did the math. These girls LOVE the attention. Any kind. Even the "Tits or GTFO" or "This thread is worthless without pics" kind. Because boys on the internet really know how to make a girl feel good. They generally present some form of the "Hey, look, I'm a girl and I like cars! Love me!" They'll have a few regular leghumpers that follow them around the board posting in every thread they post in, heavy handedly hitting on them. However, every thread they post in will feature some form of flirting. Will rarely post in the tech sections of a board, sticking to general sections or off topic. I ABHOR this brand of "car girl." 7% Gearhead. These girls like cars. They could not care less about the boys. They tend to avoid focus on their gender, instead focusing on their car. They respond negatively to "Tits or GTFO" and will have to, every 6 months or so, dress down some new idiot who assumes they can treat this woman like the other 93%. These girls also look down at the attention whores, as they ruin the credibility of all women on the board. Be the latter, not the former. The former make me sick. Don't pretend to be interested in what I'm interested in because it'll make me like you. Any man with an ounce of brains sees right through that shit. And it's insulting. And guys, STOP. Just stop. You're never going to sleep with a girl from a car forum. Enough of this. Stop hitting on a box of text because it says mildly suggestive things and uses too many smileys. Those pictures she posted? They might not even be her. That might even be a dude. I did that for years on a forum to troll idiots, with the consent of moderators. And stop being extra nice to them. If a girl posts a car that looks like hammered dogshit, tell her it looks like hammered dogshit. You'd have done that to a guy if he posted the same car. She's not going to sleep with you because you watered down your criticism. All she's going to do is keep driving around her awful car thinking that all the boys love it.
