I have done a factory recommended break in on my last two Subies (and all my cars before it) with mixed results. I picked this car up with 4 miles on it and over the next 15 miles after I bought it I worked it up to the redline. Some people will say this is beyond stupid, but I want to see for myself what the results are. For the most part all of us are arm chair generals, so I decided to buck the norm in this case. |

Thanks for the response! This is my first and probably only new car I'll have so I couldn't get myself to do that as much as I read about it.

Understandable, car exerts/mechanics or whatever are a lot like doctors, they all have different opinions and you need to come to your own conclusions that make sense to you. I really don't know what is the best way to break in a vehicle tbh, but this is part of my experiment to form an opinion on it
In your case I think you are totally right to follow the manual, to be safe.

I will try to figure out my camera to record it.
But I can tell you how. The "parking lights" that look like eye lashes come on when you set the lights to DRL. Just between auto and the normal "on" headlight function, (maybe these are considered parking lights, Im not sure) there is actually a DRL selection between the two. They will stay on as long as the car is running (maybe if it isnt as well). To get the lower LED strip to light up, those lights will stay on as long as the car DOES NOT have the parking brake engaged and DOES NOT have the headlights on. In my pictures if I had the parking brake off these lights would be on. But my car was sitting there idling. |

Yes it is, but you cant have the hand break on, or the normal headlights.
