For a first timer you are probably going to be OK with stock pads/fluid depending on the track.

That said, I changed mine anyway before my first time because having more stopping power isn't a bad thing.

Totally agree with JVincent.
I enjoy working on my Cars. So any excuse to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability has me bust'n knuckles.
This time last year I attended Don Herring Mitsubishi's hosted track day at Texas Motor Ranch, Cresson TX.
What at terrific event! Came away with an appreciation of what a gracious and talented group of drivers can be found living in North Texas.

I prepared my brakes by doing the following:
1. Goodridge SS brake lines front and rear.
2. Already had installed Grimmspeed master brake cylinder brace
3. Solo Pressure bleeders on the calipers
4. Motal 600 brake fluid
5. Centrex premium rotors [warning! some websites show a solid rear disk for a BRZ fitment. My limited BRZ has vented rear rotors.]
6. Hardbrakes 0.500 mm Titanium heat shields
7. Jerry Vorshlag sales staff recommended & procured Carbotech XP10 pads

The brake petal feel improved with a much stiffer response to foot pressure. I didn't experience any brake fade with this combination.

Best of luck. Hope your first experience is as enjoyable as mine.
