I'm not sure I've shown this before. This is my mother's .22 caliber Winchester model 697. My father special ordered it from Winchester Canada with factory scope and no previsions for front or rear sights. He gave the stock to my grandfather who did the most wonderful hand carving including my mother's name, Ruby. It was her wedding present from my father. I do not know if she ever fired it.

My review of the original Bug-A-Salt gun vs the new 3.0.

Simple. If you have the old one, throw it away and buy the new 3.0. The old one you had to be right on top of the flys, like less than a foot, and still you had to double tap. The new gun will knock them out from 4-5 feet easy. It is much easier to get the good shot with the barrel up higher. And the push button safety is great. No more "" pump, saftey, shoot ". Just "pump, shoot" .

When buying, do your homework. When my wife bought mine, the 3.0 Black Fly model was $100 because it is black. The same gun in a different color was only $35. That is why I have the "Orange Crush" edition. Love it even more.

The automatic firing mechanism has been disabled.

I was looking for the anti-tank nose gun used in the A-10 Warthog tactical fighter if I can find one. The 30mm ammo runs a bit pricy at 3900 rounds/min , but I have mice in my backyard as a result of the neighbour's mini-farm and something needs to be done.

Maybe next time I'm down in Tuscon, Davis-Monthan has some units in the dumpster after the latest re-fits.

Darn mice

I had a gammo air rifle for squirrels when I lived in the northeast. Squirrels in Florida aren't as big or as invasive so no need to adjust their population

You may wish to consider a lower profile weapon, which would be a bit more urban friendly -

Surprisingly these are available in Australia but I'm not sure of the legality in my state *shrug*. I'm a little tempted but what happens to all the salt you've fired everywhere?
