But if you witnessed the accident and ran something over, shouldn't you have stuck around and talked to the police? At least then it might have been whoever was at faults insurance that would've covered your repair

I really didn't want to keep up with any of those responsibilities right at that time. It was dark, there was tons of debris everywhere, other cars were driving through it. Felt too dangerous to stand there, so I left.

It's okay. Ppl who like to pay out of pocket for covered expenses help keep insurance lower for the rest of us. =)

I had state farm, 3 or more comprehensive claims in 5 years and they automatically drop you and everyone else on your policy. I know from experience.

You're going to want more than just spot welding... you'll need to properly seal it with seam sealer on both sides after painting, before undercoat.
