Benjoke. I spoke with penfed this morning. You do not need to have the specifc dealer selected when you apply for the loan. If your credit meets the criteria and your loan is approved, they will issue you a Pre-approval draft, which you then can take to the specifc dealer you end up choosing.

Hope that helps and good luck with your new purchase.

Thanks guys! Not gonna lie, but I am quite nervous. This is the first big purchase in my life so I am a little worried. I have my down payment check all set. I've been saving for a few years for it, so it's now or never. In a few hours it'll all be over.

Now I just hope people don't get jealous and key my car. I've worked hard for it.

I hope so too. My mother's TSX is about a year and half old and her car is spotless, so I guess my area isn't as bad as I though it was. It's just inconsiderate neighbors is what I'm worried about.

Anyway, here's a brief description of what my day consisted of and a few thoughts on the car.

I left work at 3pm so I can get home and change before heading to the dealership. I was told yesterday (May 31st) that the car was ready and I could pick it up. Unfortunately I didn't have everything ready on my end since I wasn't expecting to see the car for another week or so. In fact I was going to do all the work that night. Took about an hour for us to sign papers and whatnot. 3.99% financing thanks to a good friend of mine, who has helped me the whole way since day one. Colin, I thank you very much for what you've done for me. You'll be getting some beers soon! :happy0180:

Since New York requires a front license plate, and I didn't want the bumper drilled, I was able to get a tow hook mounting kit (thanks Justin and Matt from GrimmSpeed!) and installed it myself when I picked up the car. That way, they can legally sell the car and I don't have a drilled bumper! However, according to a few coworkers of mine, who know some high ranking people in the state police, as long as I don't have anyways of mounting my front plate, such as no bracket to mount the plate to, then I don't need it. We'll see if that works.

I drove off the lot around say 5:30 est. I went straight and showed Colin the car and I chatted it up with him as well as his room mate. He's an excellent guy too! Took some pics, chatted some more, and just admired this beautiful car.

I then went to a local restaurant in a plaza that I know a good amount of people working there. While I was there, I was going back and forth between the restaurant and a card/comic shop. They're so close to each other and I've known the owner of the card shop for roughly 10 years so I figured I'd drop in and see him. As customers were leaving the restaurant and I was near the car, they would compliment it and ask questions about it. One guy was about to leave at the other end of the lot and came up to it because he thought it was a Porsche or a Maserati. He was shocked to see a Subaru badge on it.

I then went for a drive for roughly 2 hours. Put around 80 miles on the car since I picked it up and took some pictures at a local college. I don't think they came out good since it was night time and I'm terrible at taking pictures in the dark, but one or two might be good. Still learning on my T2i.

A few small things I noticed on the car:

  • If I stream music via USB cable on my iPod, there tends to be a very faint cracking noise every now and then. But if I stream it via bluetooth on the same device it doesn't happen. Might be that the iPod cable is going bad.
  • The doors don't lock by themselves. I don't know if all new cars are supposed to do this, but I figured this might do it. I'll have to check the manual.
  • There is a small thud going into 1st every now and then, but it appears to be normal and happens on other cars, according to other posts.
The car drove perfectly. Clutch was nice and quite responsive. Going to take some getting use to, but very nice to drive. I'm amazed at how there is virtually no body roll in this car. Any turn my old Integra leans in this pretty much stays flat. I love it. Seats are comfortable and hug you perfectly. Engine sounds great, but sadly I can't rev it past ~4k. I think the highest I had it was 4200 rpms but I wasn't paying attention when that happened! Oops!

Anyway, I'm off to read the manual to check a few things I have concerns with. I'll post a few more pics of it tomorrow!

I'm glad! I accidentally locked the keys in a Honda Element yesterday, moments before I was supposed to deliver it to a customer! I'm used to cars not automatically locking. With the keyless access, all you have to do is brush your finger over the static sensor on the door and it locks the car as you walk away.
