Part of me wishes they would total it. Considering the other cars posted on here that have been totaled with less monetary damages... I guess it depends on where the damage is. Even though they let me come in and inspect it when it was torn down and see that the rails beside the engine were not bent or damaged, I still know it will never be the same. They are going to replace my Eibach Pro-kit spring on that side if damaged, clear side markers (they broke the non-damaged side when removing the front bumper), and do a custom alignment for me (a little negative camber up front), so that's something (positive mental attitude). Drunk guy has insurance. They have already started claiming they will not pay any sort of diminished value, etc. It's gonna be an interesting fight. On another note, an interesting tidbit that we all really know. The repair estimate is from Beaman Scion/Toyota. Every single part number on the estimate from Toyota is a Subaru part number. Toyota apparently thought it just easier to adopt their part numbers than create their own for the same parts. Last edited by TrickyFrenchman; 01-23-2013 at 12:29 AM. |

They always start like that. Two things to remember:
1) insurers are measured by the percent of claims handled in a timely manner - so it literally pays to be patient. The longer your claim is unresolved, the more eager they will be to wrap it up. 2) They want to avoid trouble with the state department of insurance - so if you are getting run around simply tell them their resolution does not make you whole and you feel they are "not acting in good faith" and you are happy to contact Julie McPeak's office. (I've personally had instances where merely offering to contact the commissioners office motivated the insurer to cough up exactly what I requested - a very fair settlement.) Interesting tidbit to go along with yours (which was news to me). You know those square bar codes that modern smartphones use? Toyota subsidiary Denso Wave invented them to track parts inventories in their manufacturing centers. They hold more info that old school vertical line bar codes. |

Good news, they're ahead of schedule on the repairs as the shop has been slow as of late. So, likely earlier than the originally planned for 2/14 completion date.

Hey guys! I'm down in Huntsville but there really aren't many FRS owners down here and I'm pretty sure I am the only social one.
Mind if I come up there and hang with you? Scott |

I think I might have seen you around... So far, I've seen a red FR-S, black FR-S slightly modded, another black FR-S stock, a DGM BRZ Limited, and a BRZ DGM Premium.

I've seen a girl driving around Huntsville in an asphalt FRS like mine and there is a Hot Lava one owned by an older gentleman that showed up to a TVR/TAC Solo Event at John Hunt Park last fall. I did spot an asphalt FRS that was lowered, 18" wheels, exhaust, blacked-out headlights and tail lights with HIDs driving on Interstate 65 yesterday on my way to Birmingham. Looked very nice. Scott |
