A little back story. In 1991 after my wife and I were married, I made an offhand comment that if she still fit into her wedding dress after 20 years, I would marry her again (I know, a pretty shallow comment).
Well, 20 years went by and since I'm a man of my word, I began planning a surprise vow renewal ceremony to be held during our summer family vacation in Key West, Fl. Covert operations begin; I bought a shiny new wedding band, found a Photographer/Wedding guy in Key West and made reservations at Salute's restaurant on Higgs Beach. No one knew except Salute's, the photographer and Jared....yes, I went to Jared. Fast forward to Key West. Several days in and a bit of convincing, we finally get to the restaurant and are seated at a strategic table where we order some drinks. By now, the photographer is sneaking in some pics from the beach, so I make my move and get down on one knee and ask her to marry me again. My boys were just as shocked as she was since I'm probably the most un-romantic POS this side of the Mississippi. Well, she said yes and we renewed our vows on the beach. I probably shouldn't wait another 20 years to be romantic again though, so thanks for all the ideas on this thread! |
