This is perfect. The key part IMO is NOT using the gas at first when you're learning. Concentrate only on where the clutch grabs. If the car starts to stutter too much just press the clutch back in and start over.

Coming from automatic, it's more or less programmed into my head that when in doubt, hit the brakes. When I attempted to drive my uncle's car, I could get it started just fine, I could shift just fine, but I could never remember to press the clutch and the brake together, which led to many embarassing stalls and the car violently shaking. In particular his car would refuse to roll in gear with no throttle, you had to give it gas or else it would start to buck violently, so when that happened I could panic and press the brakes (and not the clutch).

It just seems like you don't have the proper response to the situation (near-stall, panic stops, etc), which stems from lack of seat time. I guarantee you it will become second nature when you get some proper seat time. You won't know until you try!

Hit me up on PM if you're really curious/frustrated/etc. with driving a manual. I'm no pro (far from it), but I get around . Honestly, I just think you need more time behind the wheel, everything else comes after.
