Until I get the product, I take every measure possible to make sure I'm protected. It's not like a mom and pop shop where you can just stop on by if things don't work out. Of course, I stay as civil and respectful as possible throughout the transaction, and if they're a good businessperson, they understand and even welcome the measures.

But yeah, you should be okay with using a credit card for future purchases. We live and learn - at least it wasn't an FA20 turbo kit or something!

That's what's kept me most sane is that it's not a ton of money. Even if I do receive a good check, I'll still get in contact with him to let him know. If not, well, yeah..

Words of Wisdom....Never use your bank account or ATM for anything unless you have to. It'll be a PITA trying to get that money back.

I had an issue with ViciousLED and fortunately used my credit card.

Same, but I filed the dispute with PayPal like in the precaution I listed above. It made him act (this was right before he got banned).

Lesson learned. Luckily, the check came in the mail Saturday. I'll deposit it Wednesday when I get in from work and will know if it's any good.

Check your state laws regarding bad checks if it becomes one.

I had a guy write me a bad check once from out of state for $1500 bucks, turns out writing a bad check and sending it across state lines is considered a form of wire fraud. Needless to say he authorities got a hold of him and took care of it.

Good luck!

I was fortunate and received a check that cleared. I was made whole.

I still warn others in dealing with him and his company. The owner of the twin turbo car being built reached out to me on facebook telling me her experience with him and they aren't very positive. She too deals with huge lacks of communication and him missing deadlines by months. That is on her though, so I'll now take my experience and learn from it.
