Just to be clear. The black box with HE Subaru writen on it is the stock ECU right? Is there another one on the car like somebody told before dedicated to the direct injection?

There's a direct injection control unit in the engine bay

the one in the glove box, its the one that controls the port injectors, fuel trims, ignition timing, all sensors and such like a normal ecu but then relays information to the DI ECU inside the engine bay and from there the DI ECU controls the direct injection timing and fuel trims
