Hi there! I'm Kristie, happy owner of a 2014 FR-S Monogram in Hot Lava. I live in the SF Bay Area. I've almost had my baby for a year now (purchased her in March 2015). Only a couple things have been done to her so far, and I'm not planning anything too drastic.

Not new to the forum. Been lurking around for a month. Now I own a 2013 FR-S. Fantastic ride and what a great car. Now off to the suspension thread.

Hey all....Just got a 2013 Scion FR-S and it is a great car. Only had it for a week so far. I am taking it in for service tomorrow so they can fix a couple minor things and am wondering if there is anything I should be proactive about them checking before it becomes a problem?

Make sure that it has the most recent factory ecu calibration to fix some of the direct injector seal issues that plagued some earlier 2013 cars...

Thanks for the info. I requested that they update the ecu and was told they would. I just hope they actually did.

Here is the list of the most common and recognized concerns with the 13s.
Do not go thinking you must have them all as some were pretty spotty.
Ignore the fuel pump chirp fixes as none of them did a thing.

Thanks, I have the cricket issue from the fuel pump but i dont hear it inside the car. Does it get louder eventually? Also the only other problem I seem to have is a rattle when I add bass into the stock sound system (+2 or higher). It sounds like the speaker might be blown but I found it goes away if I hold the window switch panel on the door. I told the dealer and they insist it is the speaker and are replacing it. Anyone else have this issue?

The crickets come and go and get louder and quitter at what seems like random times. A bunch of us associate it with higher temperatures and ethanol in the gas but we have never reached consensus in the matter (and never will I fear).
The swich rattle is fairly normal on the 13s but there are some things you can do about it: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34300

I was looking for any threads discussing the window switches and couldnt find anything. I am glad to see I am right at the cause. I just hope the dealer will fix the issue. I am not keen on taking apart my car door panels.

If you have a good dealer they may but historically most do not want to touch it. It really isn't an "issue" in their eyes. There is the simple "shove something under the plate" method seems to work well and does not require ripping the door apart. You will hear all sorts of weird noises in these cars and just have to remind your self that it is not a Lexus and compromises had to be made to get the light weight that is a main feature.

Oh i have always driven cars with lots of noises in them. It really does not bother me. I do like my music though. I used to have a competition sound system in my cars and they would rattle apart from the bass (kid of the 90's lol). I am used to lots of noises and most do not bother me but the window switch one does.

Another option you have would be to pick up a set of the knee pads that the 14s and up have. They seem to give just enough support that the switch rattle issue is very rarely mentioned by their owners. They also look mice and you get slightly better sound out of the speakers. Would cost you a bit of course but they should be easy to install.

I will look into that. Thanks for the advice. Joining this forum has really helped me with everything about this car. Everyone so far is very helpful and not @ holes like most forums. Even convinced me that this was the car for me. Thanks to everyone for the help.

Oh give it time, give it time!
Try posting a clickbait site article on the next version of the car or claim that you have the "fastest FRS ever" without supporting the claim and see what happens.
