Mercedes AMG's V8s never had a problem on the audio department delivering what one would expect from a performance unit of this type, at least in naturally aspirated form.

The new AMG GT sports coupe, however, will be the latest car in the sub-brand's range to adopt a forced induction solution, which doesn't always satisfy or at least not as much as a traditional N.A. engine, as many BMW M3/M4 reviewers found out recently.

But you can judge for yourself if the AMG GT's new 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 makes the initial cut by listening to the three new videos released by Mercedes-Benz this week and tell us what you think in the comments below.

Mercedes-AMG GT spied testing on the Nurburgring [video]

Packs 510 PS

A prototype of the Mercedes-AMG GT has been spied undergoing testing on the Nürburgring ahead of a full reveal set for this fall.

Mercedes-Benz and AMG are putting the finishing touches on the all-new "GT" which will try to fill in the void left by the larger and more expensive SLS AMG. Set to go on sale next March, the model will be powered by a brand new V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine outputting 510 PS (375 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque.

The prototype seen here is dressed in a full body camouflage but it's easy to notice it will have conventional doors instead of SLS' gullwing setup. The company has already said the AMG GT will have a "muscular, never ending front" combined with a "staggeringly beautiful rear." It will utilize an aluminum space frame which will grant a "true lightweight" package for what will be "an all-rounder with extremely sport aspirations."

Among the many teaser photos released so far, Mercedes-Benz has also provided a quick glimpse of the interior cabin which will boast a two-tone red & black upholstery combined with an Alcantara roofliner, carbon fiber trim and a three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel featuring aluminum inserts.

The 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT will be officially revealed this October at the Paris Motor Show.

Will go on sale in March

Mercedes has released a new teaser video of the 2015 AMG GT.

Set to be introduced later this year, the model promises to be the ultimate driver's car because "from the very first thought of its creation" it "was born to be exactly" that. The company goes on to say the car will "practically beg the driver to prompt it to perform."

As we have previously reported, the AMG GT will be launched with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 510 PS (375 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. It will be connected to a dual-clutch transmission which could enable the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 3.9 seconds and hit a top speed of approximately 312 km/h (194 mph).

Mercedes-AMG GT officially confirmed with 510 PS twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine [video]

Goes on sale March 2015

Mercedes-Benz has disclosed full details about the engine which will power the upcoming AMG GT.

It turns out previous rumors were spot on as the AMG GT will feature a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine delivering 510 PS (375 kW) at 6,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) between 1,750 rpm and 4,750 rpm.

Codenamed M178, this Euro 6-compliant engine has a dry weight of 209 kg (460 lbs) and benefits from lightweight pistons and twin overhead camshafts while the flow-optimized cylinder heads feature zirconium alloy for optimal temperature and thermal conductivity. The cylinder walls have been lined with a nano-slide coating in order to diminish friction losses and there's no need for a conventional oil pan as the engineers used a dry sump lubrication technology.

The same engine will also find its way under the hood of the upcoming C63 AMG models (sedan, estate, coupe and cabriolet) but we will see it first on the AMG GT set to be unveiled this fall before going on sale March 2015.

New 2015 Mercedes AMG GT Sports Coupe: Official Shots of the Interior

Quote:
What we have here are the very first official photos of the interior of Mercedes' upcoming AMG GT sports coupe that were handed over by the automaker to German magazine AutoMotorundSport. Mercedes officials have not yet revealed the car's designation in public, but one has to assume that along with the imagery, they also confirmed the name.

The two-seater cabin looks like a modern evolution of the outgoing SLS AMG with an elevated lower center console that houses the funky transmission lever, driving control systems and touch pad COMAND controller. You'll also notice the four circular air vents (you can never have enough of those, right?) and the floating touchscreen display for the infotainment system.

There's nothing new to report about the rest of the car which will be smaller, lighter but also, less exotic and more affordable than the SLS AMG, with power coming from Merc's new 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 offered in different states of tune, depending on the model.

The AMG GT will debut later this year.
