I'm a bad person to ask, my expectations are so high that i wouldn't bother spending money on suspension unless it is an Ohlin or Penske unit (or a lower end unit custom valved to my specs), and if i was going to lower the car i definitely wouldn't do it unless i have geometry aligning components ready to go as well.

personally i see no reason for people to coilover their dailies, if that gap is super important to you then do whatever you want, but in my eyes it's never a right choice.

I'd much rather try to put 400-450hp down through the stock suspension than through budget coilovers...

But some people have warranties still they don't want to void. Trust me, if I didn't have a warranty, id rather go FI before I started suspension work. I'm looking to do about 4k worth of mods that wont totally void my warranty to customize my car to make it more fun, until I can boost it.

If your goals are in that power range, you obviously have money to spend. Why go for the cheapest coilovers you can find? You don't need coilovers to fit decent sized wheels/tires, and like ZDan said, it would probably be better to remain stock than to go with dampers that may actually perform worse than the stock ones.

Enkei RPF-01s in 17x8 or 18x8 will fit, and you can run some sticky 245s on them.

your goals are simply outrageous and your budget lacks forethought entirely

want to have fun in your car? go to an autocross or lapping day

4000 dollars is 3 seasons worth of top of the line tires and entry fees to all the events you can drive out to.

How are my goals outrageous? My budget is my budget. I was thinking 4k of suspension mods and maybe some minor cosmetic tweaks. Toms tails, or something like that. And once my warranty was almost done, then invest 5 or 6k in Fi and a proper tune. I think you are just totally against nodding a DD. But that is your opinion and prerogative.

sorry I thought you wanted 450hp off 4k investment, I got my users confused.

4k for suspension is a good start though, just keep in mind that dampers are a wear and tear item; so whatever you upgrade to, make sure it is rebuildable locally.

What are your goals for suspension? How much do you want to drop it? How stiff do you want it to be? Is tracking the car your primary focus, or is this your daily driver that sees occasional track time? By track time, are you doing actual tracks, or autocross? If you're doing autocross, what class are you in? Are you aiming to be competitive at regional or national level in that class?

Different answers to these can all point towards different coilovers. Or even springs and struts instead of coils.

That was why I was considering Tein. They are rebuildable in the us.

If you're planning on lowering your car more than an inch, I would recommend coilovers.

You can do well with good ride quality and good performance with just springs on stock shocks with the few springs that lower an inch or less, but past that point there just isn't enough bump travel to work well on all roads/tracks.

There is a wide range of coilovers out there...some quality, some not so much (and not necessarily "better" than stock or quality springs). Depending on your goals there should be a good match for you in your price range.

buy my v3's...

for a budget coil you should consider RCE tarmac 0...atleast you can get stiffer rates. the ST are pretty soft and with all that power you wont be happy. i think bilsteins are in that entry level category too, but i dont know much about them.

avoid the taiwanese stuff.

the turn in concepts coilover is called HVT. i dont know how readily available they are.

bottom line, it already seems like you're spending a lot on the turbo and etc, why would you skimp on a part of your car that i so vital to you being able to put all the power to the ground safely and not bounce around. save up a bit more IMO, or do a dedicated strut/springs (koni/RCE spring) if you want the best performance. but i'm assuming coilovers are going to be the clear winner since you want to run aggressive wheel fitment compared to stock.

Decent DD status sub-1900 MSRP: TEIN Street Flex, ST Coilovers, Bilstein B14, RSR Sport-i, RSR Black-i, RCE T0

Great DD status: Penske, Ohlins, etc. Yup...pay to play.

Keep in mind we only recommend setups that we would use on our own car.
