If there is more than one way to do anything, guys will argue about it. There is no solidarity. Even among guys that have the same model of car, but perhaps a trim level or year difference, they will fight. I mentioned to my freind with the WRX that I like the bugeye version and he looked at me like I just gave an impassioned speech about eating babies.

^hahaha....

I peeked at a few 350's and 370's before i made my decision....I don't track so the handling and weight of the 370Z does not bother me at all...I did, indeed, like the power of both Z's. overall I just like the frs a bit more, though NOT a fan of the boxer engine at all...stupid chirps!

That's because Americans don't get raped in the ass on performance car prices like Canadians do.

Edit: At current exchange rate the Z is under $25k US.

Edit 2: In 2013, when our dollar was closer they were starting at just under $41k...

4.8 second difference is pretty much what I would expect on Laguna Seca.

The majority of the corners there are pretty high speed right angles so the power is going to be a big advantage.

Australians get way more raped on 370Z's. Up until two years ago they were 70k.

They killed the Silvia, turned the Skyline into an Altima+ and left me with nothing to excite. Sorry, Nissan, Subaru got my money. Look on the bright side, though, I still need parts for the GT-R. You remember, back when you built cars I wanted?

What's with all the popped collar hate? I guess you aren't ready for my parachute pants....
Silvia and GTR were killed by the Japanese emission rule changes in 2002 as well as the Renault merger.

I'd love to see a 2.0 litre turbo successor to the SR20DET in the future. Making 300HP.

The next Z car would be the prime candidate for it. If Nissan can make a good looking manual RWD platform which comes in at under 1300 kg then I'll be extremely tempted to fork over my cash.

The IDX Concept has me concerned about their design language though. That thing was FUGLY.

Exchange rate comparison, yes this is true. However, unless you buy it in Canada and bring it to the US, then you won't get it in the US for under $25K. US pricing is $29.9K.

I have both an FR-S and a 370z NISMO and drive them daily, these lions do not need to be caged up. I love them both for what they are. Both have their positives and negatives. Both have amazing exterior styling, cornering, suspension, handling. Honestly IMHO the power-band needs improvement in the FR-S at certain RPMs. 0-50 is great then well I feel like the power just dissipates . I don't like the limited visibility in the 370z but I can tolerate it. I don't like the interior feel of the FR-S, but love the stereo and seats that wrap around me. I hated the factory stereo in the 370z but love the rest of the interior. The power on low end on the 370z could definitely use some work. I could go on and on and nit pick every minute detail but you get the point. All these things can be changed and modified to my liking as I have been doing so already. I like the weight of both the FRS/BRZ and 370z. When I popped the hood for the first time on the FRS I was like HOLY ^%*^ this thing is light!! I agree with the others that stated Nissan needs to do something big to keep up with the competition for those that are in the market for 2 door sports-coupe/sports car in that specific price range. Most of this is subjective and opinionated.

For myself it really came down to what I wanted.. I wanted a FRS/BRZ since they released. But before that I wanted a NISMO 370z since they released in 09. They are both amazing cars. I can say this... whatever route you decide to go you will be more than happy. To me it's more about the passion for the cars versus what kind of car you decide to drive.

That is actually a product of the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) supplied by Toyota. Most boxers just sound like lawn mowers without the chirps.

Yes both went out of production in 2002 because of emissions but the reason that they didn't get new generations is because of the US market.
The Skyline was discontinued in favor for the bigger fatter and styled to American taste's infinti G, last minute decision made by Ghosn was to call that new car a Skyline in Japan.

The Silvia was discontinued because it was too close in performance to the new Z that was also developed with the US market in mind. Hence the fat and round styling. And it was also too wide like the new G to be any kind of sales success in Japan.
Thats what make's the 86 so special its the first Japanese coupe in more than a decade that is truly Japanese. Little to none consideration was taken for American taste's when they designed it. Sadly most Japanese cars have gone to shit because of the scale and strength of the US market, just look at the Legacy and Accord.

Nissan, take the Z, shove a Titan V8 in it and go Mustang hunting.

That done, build a car about the BRZ's size and put a boosted four banger in it.

Woulda had my money had this happened last year around this time. I bought my FRS in July but really wanted a 350z or a 370z. Much of the 350z's I saw at the time had high mileage and the 370z's were way too over priced.

Now I'm just too lazy to go through the trade in process, I already made this car my home.

Don't know why they didn't compete with the market ages ago. Whatever.
