I'm completely satisfied with mine. One year and 10000 miles. Positives are reliable, classic sports car styling, and drives the part too. Knock on wood, no mechanical issues so far. I plan on keeping it forever.

I love everything about this car and dislike nothing. I would not change a thing even if I could, well except the exhaust and TRD springs, which I have done. I even love the tire choice Toyota made, it really makes the car fun to drive on the streets or the track. I also own a BMW 135i twin turbo and a Mazda Miata MX5 just collecting dust. I would sell both tomorrow if someone offered fair market value. Both those cars have suspension upgrades as well (Ohlins) and I much prefer my FRS. I'm 48 years old and my only regret is that it took me this long to find the perfect car. My wife and I spent the weekend at the Tail of the Dragon for the annual Boxer Take Over and I'm still smiling. I've had both the BMW and Mazda up there many times but neither are as fun to go cannon carving in. Honest to gods truth!!!!!!!!

So a better question would be what would you guys say get a FR-S/BRZ or the AE86?
BRZ here with 10k miles. I couldn't be more satisfied with any other car. Seriously, I'm happy with the power and handling in its stock form. In fact, I don't want too much more power because I'm not ready for it yet. This is probably really naive and my opinion might change if I drove a 50k sports car, but 200hp on a 2800lbs car feels fast to me. There are some little things that could make it an even better car, but this is still a fantastic car no matter how many imperfections you can point out.

Would I rather have a BRZ or AE86? I choose the BRZ. I'd be too scared to drive an AE86, because I couldn't forgive myself if I wrecked it in a traffic accident. Plus I need the warranty card and reliability of a new car right now. I also like the idea of buying a brand new car and being the one and only true owner of the vehicle. For example, my brother purchased a brand new ITR in 2001 and grew up with the car. I want to do the same thing with my BRZ.

Anyway, about the pros and cons of the BRZ.

Negatives:
  • Terrible factory paint job, I wouldn't mind spending an extra thousand if the car came with a better paint job. But I know it's not a luxury car, I'm not expecting it has the best paint.
  • Crickets, avoidable by using ethanol free gas.
  • Terrible head unit, but that's replaceable.

Positives:
  • Extremely fun.
  • Affordable.
  • Beautiful exterior and interior.
  • Good trunk space compared to Miata or S2K
  • Has rear seats if you are desperate to fit more than one passenger in your car.
  • Good mpg, high twenties to low thirties

it has nothing to do with being a street racer, I have tracked other cars and this car in stock trim isn't up to the task for me to even bother tracking. I wish I lived in this bubble where the car was fast enough for me, but the truth is I live in the real world and can be honest about this car and its lack of power. this whole spirit of driving thing is something you all bought into and maybe its because you haven't owned any other performance type cars in the past or the ones you've owned were too much for you.

As I have often said everything's a compromise. I find pulp on bumpy roads to be advantageous but no pulp is faster down the straights. So depending on where I'm drinking the juice determines whether pulp or no pulp. As @Tcoat alluded to I find prune juice is only good for one thing; cutting down travel time to the bathroom.

LOL! Well ok then, I guess I live in a bubble. Randy Pobst, and MANY other professional and semi-professional drivers live in that same bubble, so I'm ok with that.

Stop crying, make more $, and get a M3 or Cayman GTS, if you want a sportscar with POWAR.
You are right.
I knew what I was getting into but wanted to get out cheap.
If it was just the power then maybe I'd sink money into boosting it but over time other things add to the list besides just power.

Well like you suggested I am paying up like I should have done from the start.

it seems you feel the same way I do, when the list adds up it just gets super annoying.

I'm envious as I live all the way across the country and haven't found a road that is as fun looking as the Tail of the Dragon is. Probably the Cascade highway here in Washington is good enough but those 300+ hairpins look disgustingly fun to drive with the Twins.

Maybe one day when I can get a month off work, I'll take a trip down south.

Seattle? Don't worry about roads. Dirtfish has RWD courses with Toyobarus.

This looks extremely fun, and I'll definitely take a look at this. Glad they have their own cars to use.

Priceless!!! Are you a psychologist too?

If you really believe this, then maybe you are the one who is not getting it?
