Be happy someone didn't hit and run your car. Dents and dings will happen, your front bumper will get chips from driving. Remember that your car is daily driven Never Hard Parked! Take pride into your car being daily driven!

Not gonna post any just to avoid the whole comparison of "my dent is bigger than yours." lol. I'm over it already, but like one of the responders above said, the first dent hurts the most.

I would venture to say the first "big" flaw hurts the most. I tapped my front bumper against a parking block because my right wheels dipped down. My first thought was, "well, that sucks" Then I saw it and I'm like, "well, shit." What am I going to do about it? Nada. It's a bummer for sure when you first see it, and it ALWAYS looks bigger than what it really is, but you learn to forget about it and move on. I'm sure I'll get more, get frustrated when I see them and forget them just as quickly.

Cheers to you for moving on! The car is way to fun to lock up in fear of dents.

The dents/scratches add character and make the car unique to everyone else's. At least that's what I tell myself.

I freak out a little bit. I have to have any damage repaired 100%. I think part of the reason I decided to trade my Genesis in on a BRZ was it finally got a door ding that couldn't be fixed. Not saying I have a HEALTHY attitude, mind you...

Little rock chips/windshield repairs don't bother me though.

Run by a PDR shop and get an estimate. Might not be expensive at all just to have it popped out.

I used to sell cars. The dealer had a dent guy come in once a week to fix dents in all the used stuff we traded for and bought. It was pretty amazing what he could do for an average of about $40 per dent. Of course, that was back in the early 2000s, so I expect the cost is rather higher now.

Pretty sure you wouldn't be too happy about it if it was your car that was dented.

I used to park super far to avoid all dents. But now i park really close to where ever I will be at so i can peak out and see if anyone were to ding my car. Both have there risk and rewards... The struggle is real

But the cops were helpful and gave me her name and address from the plate #. After getting a repair estimate I drove there and left a note on her w/s that unless she paid for the $900 cost I would report it to my insurance company who would track her down and left my contact info. I framed it as a chance for her to do the right thing and not face increasing premiums. That was a little too much to ask.

No response so the next day followed through and her insurance sent out an adjuster who cut a check on the spot.

If it happens again, I'll just go straight to my insurance company and let them handle it. That's why I pay a little extra for $0 deductible comprehensive that comes in handy when OEM windshields for FJ Cruisers cost $1,800 and are taken out Winter gravel.

That paid off again last month when someone keyed another one of my cars so I also got a "free" loaner, a new Silverado that I used to haul a few loads of river rock for the garden. Nice truck, glad it had a bed liner.

Usually minor damage like this will come from situations beyond your control, so don't stress over it.

By far, from my experience, the worst offenders are women loading their kids into a car - usually a giant SUV. They are oblivious to their surroundings. They'll pop open the back door, and it hits your car. But that's not the end of it, noooo. Then they proceed the 10-minute process of loading their little angels into their car seats in the back, meanwhile their big ass is against their open door, which in turn is actively denting and rubbing the paint off your car.

I've seen this (and had it happen to me) so many times!

That's just because you generally see women taking their children out rather than men. Let me assure you, men are just as oblivious when they're putting their kids into the car.

Not all, mind you. My wife and I are both very aware of our surroundings when loading our little ones into a vehicle. Being oblivious with kids is dangerous. One second they're there, the next those little fuckers have run off and are dancing in the middle of the road - if you're not paying attention.

Thanks! That made my day. LOL

(Yeah, I know it's not just women. Obviously I'm generalizing...)
