Cops surprised me - I surprised them

This was my first weekend with my Ultramarine FR-S. Took the gf out as she wanted to go shopping for stuff for her new condo. We were leaving a store and as I pulled up to a light, this big cop SUV pulls up next to me on the driver's side. I look up and this big 'ol feller in blue with furrowed brows is looking down at me and making a downward pointing motion - so I roll my window down.

Cop: "How much for that thing?"
Me: "$25K out the door!"
Cop: <eyebrows raise up and eyes open wide> "Wow that's not bad - good lookin' car!"

Light turns green and we both sit there for 30 seconds while I give him a few specs on the car - traffic getting all backed up behind us. Nobody honked though! Gotta love Chicago cops.

Well I just picked up my car a couple days ago and I think I have the first FRS in the city. I had an elderly man ask me what it was and I told him its a Scion FRS and he had no clue what Scion was, I then explained to him that it was built by Subaru & Toyota and Scion is Toyotas brand. He was just in awe looking at the car. Later that day I was sitting at a red light and a couple young kids in a Cobalt were driving through the intersection and saw my car, the driver immediately hit the brakes and their heads both wiped back to get a look at the car. Last night I was out for a cruise and got chased down by a guy in a new Challenger R/T and at first I thought he was coming up to be cocky and try and race but that wasn't the case, he was driving beside me for a good 8 blocks checking out over angle of the car and chatting to me about it, he was considering trading his challenger in for one but had never seen one in person - safe to say he was definitely impressed and followed me for a few minutes after we finished chatting.

I have never drove a vehicle that has got attention like this, almost every intersection I sit at or place I stop I get asked about it or get a thumbs up! Pretty cool to see so many people appreciate the car, I'm sure the attention will fade away pretty soon, but I'm going to enjoy it for now!

Mr. New Escalade meets FR-S

I wrote this out in my Owners Journal and then realized I should have probably included it here. but instead I'll just post a link to it.

Best reaction I've had yet....

I had a couple of guys in a big Dodge Ram block traffic on I-45 north going to Dallas from Houston and they were taking lots of pictures and pissing off everyone behind us. One guy floored it in the emergency lane just to get around us.

I got stopped by an older gentleman in what looked to be a yellow Z06 Corvette. Asked me what kind of new Toyota it was. I told him it was the new Toyota 86. lol

He then said it looks great and likes it. Then he told me to go have some fun and enjoy the car.

Reading all this makes me wish I lived in an area where people actually cared... Nobody gives a damn about nice cars in Arkansas... except me and a select few others. I feel left out.

Just today a guy at the gas station said to me "Nice Subaru" with a tone and grin on his face like he knew it was a joint venture car and was jabbing me a bit about the Scion aspect. I just said "Thanks" and he asked me a few questions about it and told me he had a WRX. He knew the car had a boxer engine though so I'm guessing he knew what it was or just thought I had the BRZ

I always get double takes on the road. Everyone that I see driving a sports car always wants to get up right beside me to look over it a few. The first 3 weeks I've had the car I've had people stop me out in the parking lots when I go shopping and they always have loads of questions about it. Luckily I've done my research since the concept of this car and I love answering the questions about it.

My friends are always fighting to see who drives with me when we go out.

Was at the local whatabuger and i pulled it with my nameless exhaust freshly installed so i was a bit giddy with the throttle as i pulled in. As i left the drive through a Lifted F-250 pulled up next to me with the people inside giving me a thumbs up and saying "thats FING sick!"

Besides that the attention seems to be dying down now that so many are on the road in my area.
