I had a strange encounter the other day on the highway. One raised-up truck full of what looked to be high school guys came up next to me and were all laughing and one yelled out "I'd SMOKE that piece of shit!" to me. I just laughed and shook my head as they passed.

The car behind them was also full of similar demographic and they were cheering to me and going "Dude, it's that car!"

Best reaction was when I went to a Ferrari/Maserati shop in Marina Del Rey to help my friend pick up an Italia she had waiting from being serviced. While I was parked and waiting in my car next to rows and rows of beautiful cars, three of the employees come by and compliment me, ask a few questions, and walk around the car checking it out! I think that's a pretty good response coming from guys seeing expensive cars on a daily basis.
If she can afford an Italia and is just a 'friend', you're doing it wrong man.

Actually, I've noticed a definite drop-off in random reactions to the car in the last couple of weeks. It may be because I tend to follow the same paths at the same time of day, or it could be because they are starting to show up more (although I still haven't seen another in the wild where the meet-up wasn't planned).

Still getting a lot of attention...

My company has a company-wide informal meeting or 'huddle' every Tuesday morning. Most of the time the founder/president/CEO or his brother, the COO, are never there. Today happened to be a day in which they were.

At the end of the meeting the owner says, "So I need to know. Who owns that Scion FR-S out there? That thing is really cool." In front of everyone.

He and his brother drive Bentleys, Ferraris, AMG mercs, M series BMWs, even the odd Audi A8 L. I wasn't expecting much attention from them.

Went to pick up food for co-worker lunch and this guy parked and started taking pixs of my car. I come out and he tells me to pop the hood and rev the motor while his gf record it. He told me it's the first one he seen in person.

Funny thing, a few days after I got my FR-S we had a family get together at my brother's for father's day. At some point I asked who wanted to check out my new sportscar. Several people went outside but my sister's boyfriend happened to bring his Porsche Carrera GT that day. The car is a 2005 with 17,000 kms on it that he bought new. The total cheque probably didnt end off far from $600K Canadian at the time with exchange rates. Needless to say, I was overshadowed that evening (understandably).

Every day I get people giving me the thumbs up or asking me questions about the car. I really like it, almost as if I was driving the Carerra supercar or something.

Wow you were overshadowed by a 2005? Lol. They don't even look good. FR-S/BRZ looks better.

Yesterday while driving to have lunch, I saw a convertible audi r8 with its' top down driving the opposite way. To my surprise, the driver was checking out my car.

I get a lot of looks from RX-8s, sometimes I think they're doing a double-take.

I did have one homeless lady at an intersection cheer "nice car!" at me as I waited in the front of the turn lane. "Must not make eye contact... THANKS!"
