Congrats on your purchase! I have about 22k Seattle miles on the stock tires, and they behave just fine. Forgive my made-up terms, but in my experience, they tend to outgrip my expectations while going straight and undergrip while turning in the wet. If you don't like surprises or you're in traffic, be aware of your speed while on our nice gravelly interchanges in the wet (I'm looking at you, I-5s to I-90). In the dry, everything is just right.

Drove my FR-S during the worst Chicago winter in years on the Bridgestone A/S tires it came with (they swap out the Michelin's a lot up here depending on what time of year you buy it).
Aside from setting off while standing in snow, the car is fine in the winter. I never got "really" stuck, and only 2-3 times did I have a little trouble taking off from a stand still. HOWEVER, once moving, it brakes/stops VERY well in the snow, and turns easily and directly. It's surprisingly good, actually, and as many say, SO MUCH FUN. I'd recommend using the sport setting on the t/c most of the time. If you try to run around with everything on, it will just bog and nearly stall when trying to pull into traffic. The sport setting slides a lot but I never lost it backwards and was tons of fun. Honestly, can't wait for next winter for the constant oversteer alone! |
