The difficulty is actually finding an Off-the-shelf oil cooler that fits with an off-the-shelf FI kit.

So far, the only kit designed that way, is the Jackson Racing kits.

However, due to the mounting method of the NA version of the Jackson Racing Oil Cooler, it fits with a lot of FMICs that sit further forward in front of the AC condenser.

It doesn't hurt that the JR kit also includes a thermostatic plate and has a larger cooling capacity to boot.

If the off-the-shelf kits don't work, then you'll be best off piecing together your own using high quality components.

Many kits use the same mishimoto core.

IMO, get one that has nylon braided wires (in lieu of SS braid) and has the best angle/adapter for the filter block. For street driving, make sure to get one with a thermostat in the oil block. I would also opt for one that mounts in the side fender if you ever plan on going FI.

Outside of that they are all very similar and can't really offer drastic differences.

The Jackson Racing kit uses a Setrab core, and Aeroquip lines with full float fittings.

The fbm one fits my FI kit just fine because it mount behind the fog light

Here's something I found that shows thermal imaging of a race car. I found it interesting, especially where they placed the hood vents.

Went to the track today. Car was running hot. It's the middle of summer right now, and ambient temp was 36C. After three hot laps, coolant was at 111C (232F), oil temp was 127C (260F). Temps were taken from the OBD port.

I have a Vortech Supercharger. Cooling mods are Perrin oil cooler and Koyo radiator. I can only imagine what the temps would be in a turbocharged car. Now I'm seriously considering getting a vented hood.

That's pretty cool. If you look at the GT300 BRZ it uses a turbo sitting in front of the engine and they have a large double vent right in front near there.

If there were any decent plastic insert style vents I'd consider modifying my stock hood as well.

Just need to find something that looks good and is effective. Placement might be tricky with the under-structure though.

Those are the exact temps that I've seen at my last track event with Koyo Radiator and OEM oil cooler. I think maybe I can consider vented hoods and cutting the fender garnish to release heat for track days. With that said I've been using Mobil 1 0w-40 just for a safety net

This is concerning. @csg_mike here is an overheating supercharger setup

I've modded my skidplate, hoping to possibly avoid having to buy a vented hood. I still might need the hood for tracking, but I know my skidplate mod works. A LOT of heat is exhausted out through the hole in the skidplate, and the trip strips help pull the hot air out at speed.

I don't think there would be any difference temp wise, the main reason I switched to thicker oil is because it just provides better lubrication at certain temps and higher flash points
