That sucks, and I can totally understand being disappointed. Hearing stuff like this makes me glad my salesman was awesome. At the end of the day though, you're getting the film for free, and sure the holes suck, but if it were me I think I would get over it pretty quickly.

Let us know what you decide to do.

Well, I had a dream once where I showed up to pick up my first-86 car and it had 1100 miles on it.... I burned the dealership down after destroying it with this giant double sided axe like you'd see in World of Warcraft.

Maybe I play too many video games.

So I'm not advocating that approach.

Just take a good look at the interior and make sure it looks to you like it's new. If it's marked or scratched, have them detail it and if it doesn't come out, it's up to them to make it look "new".

Drilling the front bumper is unfortunate but they may say they do that for all cars per CA law. I know mine was the first Scion that they *didn't* drill the front bumper on only because I asked repeatedly.

Unless the car is scratched up or has 1100 miles on it, I say enjoy it and don't lose sleep over it.

Dang, sorry to hear the disrespect bro! Hope you can get it settled... I'd say even with the freebies to do what everyone else is saying and go over it with a finetooth comb. If you find something the dealer won't fix I'd be keeping in touch with the corporate folks. You think out of all people the dealership would know that car's are a very personal item to folks!

My take is slightly different.

1. Drilling the holes: this is the worst violation. I don't even know what they can do to compensate for this, waive doc fee, free upgrade or something but this is the one thing that I wouldn't take. My dealer explicitly states they don't drill holes on cars, ever, FRS or xA.

2. Applying film: since they give you this for free, I'll take it, assuming it's factory upgrade which is 3M thin bra (correct me if I'm wrong). This film can run $500 even with third party so I don't mind if they do honestly.

3. Letting it sit on the show room floor: I personally don't mind this if it's under staff supervision. Considering most pp that track this car down and go to see it are enthusiasts, I don't mind passing the love around since Scion gave me such sweet 86 treatment so I can become their walking breathing advertising advocate. Obviously, you have to check to see if some moron key your car. My car was on display for a day and a half with my knowledge and with a big sign that says "Sold to [my name]"

4. I wouldn't leave the car there any longer since they may have had hard feelings toward you after you called Corporate. I offer to leave my car at the dealer because again, I want to do my part in making this car popular because I feel grateful for the 86 treatment but my dealer turned me down because he said he couldn't replace it if something were to happen to it. I took it home the same day.

All and all, if they are really rude to me, I may demand them replacing the bumber when the part is available but I doubt they would budge. Get some discount fee or upgrade and get out of there. I weep a little inside thinking about how the car felt when being drilled. Them morons.

Your dealer is worse than mine. I'm sorry to hear that man! 900 bucks worth of free stuff is a decent deal though in exchange, I'd see if their body shop can fill the holes too ?

There is a dealer here locally that has a first 86 White 6MT on display in the showroom, they leave it unlocked for people to see the inside and sit in it. When I went a checked it out, I couldn't believe they would let people get inside of a car that is already considered sold to someone. Of course I got in it to check it out, but literally for less than 30 seconds. The seat felt awesome, the interior looked great, but I didn't touch any buttons, or even the shifter. I just felt like I was violating someone elses girl and I had to get out

In CA, a front plate is required so that is probably why they drilled it.

However, you can specify in the sales contract or purchase order that the front plate holes are not to be drilled. Yeah, it sucks, but there is an easy solution:

Get plastic plugs (from your hardware store) and stick them in the holes...paint them body color with touch-up paint and the holes are no longer noticeable unless you are right up on the car.

My dealer stated the following, the car is in your name we have a deposit, we can not add anything unless you tell us to because it is your car unless you tell us you don't want it.
The car will be in the showroom and locked, the only person that can get in it is you, we will clean the nose prints off the car before we deliver it to you.
