I generally perform voodoo rituals with a scale model of my BRZ in the microwave on cold mornings. It may or may not work, and I have zero scientific evidence to back up my ideas, but it makes me feel better.

And puts me on par with most of the advice in this thread.

I let her warm up nicely today then waited till she got between hot and cold to shift after 2, 500 revs. I can feel her love ^_^

It is amazing how much smoother shifting is after this car has fully warmed up.

Hop in, push start, in the winter turn heated seat for driver on (passenger if there is one), let it warm up while I check my tires and lights, then sit back in the car and wait for idle to drop. Then I roll out. It's funny when I have a passenger asking me what I am waiting for.

I drive the car the moment the RPMs drop to normal (~600rpm)

I keep the car under for 2.5k for 10 minutes (average time it takes my oil to warm up in 60F+ Weather.

As soon as the oil is warmed up (verified with my iPhone) I take it to redline to shake off the cobwebs.

When I don't let the car warm up enough, shifting into second while moving is terrible. I have actually use some force to get the shifter into gear and some times I actually hear an audible click. Do I need to be worried about this?

are all your shifts like that?

I find there is a certain smooth confidence that will give a really nice smooth shift.

But if im not paying attention I will get shifts that are tough at times.

Try and notice what your doing and how it feels when you get a smooth shift and focus on recreating that.

Nope it is only going from 1st to 2nd and I don't have the problem if the car has been running for 10 or 15 minutes. At first I thought maybe my clutch work was getting sloppy but I have focused on completely flooring the clutch but it doesn't seem to help.

Im not an expert, but when that happens to me I usually try to go back into neutral and try again with a slight blip of the throttle to try and match the revs of where Id be at in 2nd gear. I know what you mean though, sometimes if im in traffic I cant baby it and sort of force it into 2nd. Im not sure if its bad, but its definitely not as satisfying as a clean warmed up shift.
