For all the talk about HIDs, I'd like to see an actual comparison on the road between the two. I was less than impressed with the HIDs on my GTI, especially when it came to replacing them after hitting a deer. A minor bump can turn into a lot of money with HIDs. My old school halogen reflector 4Runner headlights are fantastic at lighting the road compared to the GTI HIDs as well. Basically, I want to see that the HIDs provide an actual, appreciable lighting improvement versus just looking cooler. Then I could see some value to the HIDs.

Whoever does the first clean retrofit of Xenons in an FRS is going to have a queue of people just waiting to hand them $750 rather than spend thousands on Euro market assemblies.

I also beg to differ on suspension vs lights. I've done HID conversions before, I'd rather do those than a suspension any day. Quote:
As for the other stuff, I've already mentioned that. I don't take kindly to you telling me what is best for me. I know what I like and what I want done and you stop short on a few things. That would be what I call a "half-assed conversion" and misses many key things. In the end, the best thing is for Toyota to release the 86 as they should have, with all options and as a Toyota. Keep the FR-S as the low spec for N.A., I'm ok with that. The fact that people are looking into doing these conversions only strengthens the position that Toyota should have it's version in North America as the high spec. Subaru can still have their BRZ, it has a different style that caters to the Subaru folks. Just give us our Toyota so we can shut up about this already.
