I think the reaction you're getting on here proves that no one really cares and we don't think it makes them look bad.

They even owned what they said, apologized, and moved on with business because that's business.

< problem solved.

No it indeed can make a company look bad. Yes the questions could be answered by just looking around but the customer service has a job of helping answer those questions. Does it say that using a promo code would give a return of not being able to receive dip points? Either way the reps misclick basically showed he was laughing at the guy which in my opinion. Is not professional at all

I don't see what the big deal is. It looks to me as thought the tech guy asked one of the account people about the points, and the account rep answered but copied the wrong person. I don't see where they were being disrespectful. I think someone is just pissed off that he's not getting points toward his next horrible plasti dip.

I was curious, so I went looking. Apparently they put that in the fine print at the bottom of their sale notices, and they always suspend the points program during sales. Below is a link to a discussion of it on a forum, if that kind of link is allowed:

Yeah, I see absolutely no issue. It was an e-mail that was supposed to be internal and internal e-mails are not going to be wordsmithed to pc perfection (gasp).

That's probably how I would have replied to a co-worker asking that question.

I see no issues either. Work place environment can be pretty relaxed. I send and forward stupid replys to co-workers I know and he just clicked the wrong button. He owned up to it. It can happen to anyone. Have you never sent stupid things to buddies at work?

While I personally have no issue with the response, you do have to be careful with how seriously small, relatively innocuous remarks/comments can/will be taken.
Quite often companies and customers have a habit of overreacting.
At work several years ago, I had to sign off a casual because he forgot to do it before I started day end...when it asked for a reason, I wrote simply "because he is a dirtbag" as a joke, with him standing next to me...the next day he received calls from HR asking about harassment and bullying...then proceeded to have a stern talk to me...and then used this as an anonymous example in the company meetings for the next 6 months...
No one seems to have a sense of humor nowadays...especially in America it's "sue this...sue him...sue her".
Rediculous.

Not a huge deal but it would incline me to take my business elsewhere.
