After the FT86SF catted UEL header was installed last week, I no longer feel the torque dip and the car is much faster than I felt previously. Before, each time I shift into the next gear it would drop into the torque dip and feel sluggish until I get her back up into the 4000 RPM range. Now the power curve is allot smoother and I don't need to keep the revs as high as before. It now feels like a real sports-car.

Dude, if you say you shift at exactly 7400 rpms and land at 4900 rpms all the time.

LOL

Monogram. Quit trolling.

The ONLY time shifting at 5,000 rpm will result in bypassing the torque dip is when you launch.

Monogram... You have not given one example of shifting from 1st to 2nd that avoids the torque dip.

The other troll is all "I shift at exactly 7400 rpms, and release the clutch at exactly the right time to avoid the torque dip. I live my life a quarter mile at a time yo!"

That has nothing to do with the torque dip.

dry skid pad... wet skid pad... Jello... None of these change the torque dip at ~4500 rpm to ~5000 rpm.

There are 2 ways to avoid the torque dip, stay below it for DD driving like a normal person does, or shift close to or at redline... either way it proves you're wrong, and you can avoid the dip in all gears.

4760RPM to be more precise, but even if you land at 4400 it's already climbing rapidly so it won't be noticeable

This might help eliminate some of the confusion in this thread.

The BLUE line is Drift Office's dyno of a bone stock BRZ. Notice that the torque dip runs from 3200-4500 rpm.

If up-shifting at 7400 rpm in 1st lands you at 4400 rpm, you are effectively out of the torque dip area.
