Yeah, seems like that would make for some super strategic games, and maybe slower/longer games as well. Pain lands are interesting, reminds me of mana burn and makes me wonder why they removed that part of the game.

How do we play the desert cube? Is there a way to buy all the cards for it at once?

I think the cube adds another layer of complexity as you need to figure out how to make your mana.

Yeah. I think the game will take about the same length of time because a lot of the cards require you to pay life (either as an effect or part of a casting cost).

How to play the desert cube... you would draft normally, but pack sizes would be either 17 or 18 per pack instead of the 15 most people cube with. I think this is to accommodate the lands. I am already ahead of you on buying the whole cube at once. TCGPlayer has a mass card entry that can pull up all the cards you need. I've already purchased half the cards. About 250 of the 500. My first order was most of the cards that were 50 cents or less. My next order will probably be the remaining cards $5 or less, then will probably need to trade for the rest.

There's a Wasteland and a Badlands which are easily $75+ depending on condition.

I have a Badlands we could use, but no Wasteland.

Thanks for the offer. I am probably just going to proxy the Badlands in. That's a lot of money for a card.

Proxies!

Anyone planning to do the pre-release for the new core set?

Somewhat tempting, but I'm terribly out of practice. I doubt I'd be able to win very many rounds.

Are you planning on doing it?

Yup. I plan to play the pre-release at Game Kastle Fremont (noon on Saturday). I would love to do a midnight pre-release, but it's super hard. By the time I get home from work, I am exhausted. Midnight pre-release is a lot of fun, but incredibly hard to stay awake... Regardless of skill level, most people do pre-releases to have fun! I love the in-between round activities also. I know a lot of people think it is corny, but it is great to relax and play Magic among a bunch of friends.

I went 0-3. But all good. I had a fun time among friends. Can't really complain. Cool cards... not too many. Just the Waste Not card created by the Magic community.

I think M15 should be a lot of fun. Since the new set has come out, I need to update my peasant cube. I also just put in another order for cards for my desert cube. After all the cards come in, I'll be down to about 50 cards or so.

Damn, sorry about your luck! That's a cool card that you got though! Lots of abilities for very little casting cost!

I will have to make it down to Game Kastle soon to play a few rounds with you or when you get the desert cube finished.

No worries. Lots of opportunities to play Magic. I do recommend the Peasant Cube I have. You should join us sometime. Just hit me up.

Would anyone be interested in cubing in the near future? I can provide pretty much everything. This is a great way for people of various eras and levels to play Magic for pretty much free.
