Here's a pic of my engine, when I took it out

As you can see instead of vertical, it horizontal, so it's somewhat easier to lift it.

i know what a H4 looks like, but also notice how the only place to pick the engine by is the tappet covers (which are far apart) where as a I4 you can pick it up by the tappet cover but it is substantially closer together (making it easier) V blocks are easiest

Well that tells you, you don't know anything bout H4. IDK how many engine you have lifted (both hands & lifter), but I don't remember v engine been easy to lift. I have lifted 454 big block and block it self was bitch to lift. After rebuilt it, using the lifter it was still bitch to lift, cuz they didn't make area to hook it to (so had to bolt em on). While H4, when you remove the exhaust header, you can lift it by headcovers/headers. If you wanna use lifter, you can use any part of H4 to lift it: Manifold, near alternator, lil bit below the throttle, if you take off the manifold, there's few hook area. While I4 engines are vertical and don't have much place to put your hands on (I, myself only lifted three I4 engines, so IDK too much).

2 seats with decent leg and headroom plus a "token" back seat for storage and insurance purposes.

- front-midship boxer, 2.0 liters and 180-220 hp stock.

- available 6-speed manual close-geared on the first 5 with the 6th a little taller for highway cruising.

- 3 trim levels: sr5 - bare bones hardtop-only base model. gts - sports model with drivetrain/suspension upgrades over base. glx - touring model with premium soundsystem and sunroof etc... (necessary to sell enough of the model to encourage further production).

- no gimmicky styling cues, retardedly expensive to replace lights, ugly 20lb oversized wheels that necessitate expensive tires.

- weight is under 2750lb for fully-featured top of the line model. weight for base models is substantially less.

- TRD support not limited to fancy grille inserts and appearance accessories.

from a comment on jalopnik about the fr-s patent...modified by me, perhaps a little more realistic from what the guy wanted, and more what i would like

oh i didnt express my self properly. i meant picking it up strictly by hand, and i have never picked up a engine by a manifold (intake or exhaust..) every I4 i picked up was by the bottom and rest it against me while carrying (cradeled from front/end by forearms, one side by torso and holding it by the bottom of crank case) its easy for me that way. i have never picked up a H4 by hand. i was refering to more of a 2.5L V6 (150cu") rather than a 454 (good work for picking that up btw)

Unless it's Kei car engines. They're hella light. I think, one of my dog is heavier than some of the Kei car engines (3cylinders ones).

Hahaha good point, and with regular engines, I have just done it exactly as 70NYD, just use proper lifting technique, with your legs.

Ugh that just makes life completely miserable. My mother is a physical therapist so I used to see that kind of stuff all the time.

You young'ins have it so easy these days.
In my days you had to lift big block cadillac engines that weighed more than a whole car of today and carry it to motor school every day in the rain, uphill both ways and twice on sundays.
Hecknabbit even one of the steel doors off a buick weight more than a whole kei car.

And we never complained about THEY TOOK OOOR JAAAWBS!
