Just spend the $40 dude. If you can't afford a $40 Carfax report, you can't afford the car.

Sadly have to respectfully disagree with you here, I think it was his attitude towards this whole thing. I've asked the same favor before, but asked "nicely" and offered to send $5 via PayPal for the trouble.

Every post by the OP has only been in regards to asking for his Carfax - anyway just saying there's no such thing as free lunch. You gotta give something to get something kid.

Not everyone can afford a car thats $25k theres no need for making fun of him. The only reason I got my BRZ was because I found one at a salvage auction. It was all only cosmetic damage so my car will be runnig as well as all of yours and I paid half of what almost all of you paid. Good luck with the purchase chubiboi

DavidBob, I don't think anyone's making fun of him not affording a new(er) car - your intro thread was amazing, everyone loved you despite you buying a salvage and being so young. You were super nice and modest about everything.

Anyway, OP I hope you sort things out and get one of the twins, it's a great car. Just do your homework carefully and I'm sure you'll make the right descision.

Ditto on that. We're making fun of this guy for basically making an account here on ft86club to ask for a handout. All 9 of his posts on this site are in this thread begging for a free CarFax report. That's bad form, it's rude, and he's asking someone to violate the CarFax user agreement.

That changes everything then, my appologies that is very rude on his part. After reading through it once it seemed like he was just being bashed on for one reason but i see it now.

So you can't trust the guy? and you're seriously considering paying him $15,000 for a salvaged car which you're assuming is "pretty bad". Yet for some reason you're still considering it and asking others to run you a carfax report? If you really don't trust the guy and think the damage is bad enough then why on earth are you still considering buying the car?

If you're seriously considering it though then you are going to be saving enough money by buying it for $15,000 to afford a one time $40 carfax to decide if it is the car for you.

You're taking a risk here, one that I would not take. The savings are alluring, but... a slightly more expensive used car without these problems might be better in the long run. It will cost you more up front, but you'll get it back when you resell it.

I would also be concerned about reselling the car in the years ahead. It could be difficult to find a buyer. On balance, I'd be surprised to learn that you came out ahead financially, because I'd think a used car with a clean title would be worth significantly more than this car when you sell it in the future.

I would look at the big picture, consider the long run ... and I would reject this option. YMMV.

Carfax may or may not tell you anything anyway. I owned a car that had 12k worth of repair work from a teenager rear ending me. It never showed up on carfax 3 years later when I went to sell the car. And if you know the car was in accident and rebuilt what the hell is a carfax gonna tell you? I'm kinda lost on this one chief.
