I'm not looking for anything extremely loud to the point it will attract unwanted attention, but the Perrin Catback resonated only sounds slightly better than stock after the engine has warmed up. I will say the Perrin sounds awesome on a cold start though

I'm not an expert at any of this... I have looked into the Borla UEL header but was wondering if there are any other suggestions on making the car a bit 'lively'.

Thanks for your help!
If you want to stay smog legal you can't touch the header or the cat in the front pipe so that just leaves swapping the resonated midpipe for an non-resonated midpipe. I'm sure someone with a header will swap with you.

If you "have a guy" for smog then do a catless front pipe OR a catless header and see what you think of the volume at that point.

I may sell it down the road, depending how much I like the resonated setup.

And here I am thinking my Perrin catback is a bit too loud.
Perhaps you all need to clean your ears out...

If you get a catted frontpipe, and catless headers this exhaust rocks!! It keeps it quiet around town(on the inside at least, I hope it isn't too loud from the outside) but loud at WOT. I say you get headers, they show the best performance gain, plus you get dat sound.

Going to cat less and was seeking one with less sonic penalty tho I miss the pure top end of the 4-1 the hks 4-2-1 is more mellow sonically

I am running a complete Perrin 3" exhaust and this system is more that loud enough for me. Is yours any different? Oh, also, I am running a Perrin CAI, which I noticed a significant sound change from the stock intake to the CAI. Hope this helps?? And BTW, this is the resonated version too.

Resonated or non-resonated?

And maybe some of you are right, maybe I'm just too accustomed to the sound as I drive a lot :P I'll definitely consider all the suggestions here however, and I appreciate it very much. I am in California so headers etc won't pass smog.

Resonated.

Actually it's just about right for me. The louder exhaust provides more audible feedback about what the engine is doing. A couple times with the stock exhaust I'll was cruising on the highway in 5th thinking I was in 6th. Clueless mistake. I Couldn't hear it over my music, and I don't like loud music either. Now I can alway hear the engine. But I wouldn't want it any louder.
