US is over 25yrs or older, you can't import any car. iirc but still you get import cars from Canada. If you get caught, that car will be pounded.

Australia's rules sound like ours, maybe even less strict. Anything goes as long as it's 15 years or older. Newer I don't know about but don't see any R34 Skylines and the likes here (R33s, S14s and JA80 Supras have just started coming recently). You have to remember though that given that we drive on opposite sides of the road the ability to import RHD cars here is pretty lenient in itself. We need it inspected and to have the headlights changed to North American ones.

The US guys seem to have a hard time importing. I heard to get a JDM car the process is get a Canadian-registered one, then jump through hoops and paperwork. Sometimes the process is Japan to Canada to US state with lenient import laws to home state. Brutal.

but u guys are lucky.. to get a dodge here ( i mean a proper dodge from the 60's and 70's) its a yeah good luck finding it sort of thing.. and improting it.. well u have to be really in to it.. (there are 2 challengers for sale in australia that i can find right now, a 73 and a 72 and they are over 30K (aud so around 25K USD)..
what pisses me off is the markup we get, like take nissan 370z, its around 30K USD to get one there new yeah? we pay 70K aud (thats a 20K USD markup.. WHY, we are LHD already...) stupid marketing people sucking us dry
im worried that the FT-86 will cost us over 50K aud.. i am kind of hoping it doesnt get released here, that way with importing it might be considerably cheaper
