Paint Protection, Detailing and Clear Bra for New Whiteout Monogram

Opti-Coat and wax? Sounds like a waste, wax doesn't properly adhere to Opti-coat and the wax's lifespan is severely limited which is why most people skip it. If they require it I hope they dont charge you for it because that'd be ridiculous.

Also PPF fading paint is an outright lie.

The detailer may be reputable but I've never heard of them on any detailing forum or their paint corrections but they may still do reputable work. I would try and find out if they are a licensed dealer for Opti-Coat as Optimum is quite stringent on who they license.

I'm new to the detailing scene, so I believe they said just Opti-coat.

Why would they lie about this? (This was the Business Manager I was talking to...could it be that he just doesn't know...?)

It could be just ignorance. Cheap PPF film can and will yellow over time, but speeding up paint fade sounds like a rumor that got spread around. Any quality Xpel film or higher end 3M film you will have nothing to worry about for at least 5-7 years.

If you properly take care of it the lifespan of a film (depending on it's quality) will last much longer. But over time the film will get damaged especially if you hit something real good, I had an Xpel film actually get cut from some road debris. But yes after the time period it will require removal and re-application. but it's much better than the alternative which is numerous rock chips and cost of a new bumper.

I absolutely think paint film is great but it is an expensive venture initially.

I don't believe it is, but it is quite a bit cheaper. The installer is going to be the largest factor in how well it holds up and how far you are willing to go. Some installers will simply cut it at the end of the panel and others will actually tuck it underneath preventing unsightly lines.

But if you take care of the film, not allowing bugs and grime to sit on there for extended periods of time specifically in the heat I think 3M Venture Shield is a good alternative. There is also Suntek but I have no experience with their clear bra's, only tint.

Dude I don't know what else to tell you, other than your dealer is pushing you around. Not trying to be rude, but you sound like a pushover and very gullible.

It's your car, you call the shots. You've attempted to ask questions here, you've been given advice. Stick to it and just tell them how it's GOING TO BE.

Let me guess, they were able to sell you on the electronic rust module as well?

Depending on the severity of the paint determines how much it's worth, and assuming the shop does good work. If the car requires a full two step paint correction plus opti-coat that usually runs in the 400-600 range, close enough for exchange rates to CAD. I don't think theres much of a surcharge for Opti-Coat.

As for the clear bra, have they explained what is actually getting covered? For 3M clear bra it depends on if it's Scotchgard or Venture Shield as Venture Shield is more expensive.

I doubt it's screwed, but I think you should go back and get some questions answered like what type of film is it, warranty on it, ask the shop for their work, etc.... The only qualm I have with the shop is they talk about specializing in paint correction yet all they show is pictures like this



Whereas many detailers will show progress and 50/50's such as this



You can see the difference in clarity and depth from the right to the left.

It will probably be an extra charge since you're getting the clear bra and Opti-coat done at different places. You should get Opti-coat done on top of the film, otherwise it's useless.

Anyone know where to get XPEL-ULTIMATE treatment done on the island. I noticed the website shows a dealer in Vancouver, but I would rather stay on Vancouver Island.
