Yup, a lot of companies do. I just can't justify 500 or so bucks on a catted front pipe when I have the stock one in my basement
I don't want my car to sound like a swarm of pissed off bees lol

My plan is to keep the exhaust stock and replace the front pipe with an non resonated catless pipe. Extra power and a bit of noise

I'm actually curious to see how restrictive the stock cat in the front pipe is. I might have to do some searching and see what I can find. I'm sure for most of us who stay NA, the difference isn't significant. Only those who are chasing 1 or 2 whp might care. I just don't want my car to sound like this. Spd229,
Thanks for starting this thread about exhausts. I am looking for a higher pitched system for my BRZ. The Auto Factory aftermarket is a strong contender, which I found here. Anyone have another suggestion? Thanks, Lubricator Last edited by Lubricator; 12-27-2015 at 01:03 AM. |

Just wanted to drop in and speak up about the TRD exhaust. I know there's already quite a bit out there, but one more opinion never hurts someone looking to figure out how they want to spend their dollars.
Last week, I bought an FRS with just 26K miles, thus still under powertrain warranty. This is the first car over 10k dollars that I bought myself, so I am looking to try and protect my investment so that I don't lose my a** if something breaks. However, the stock exhaust left too muchto be desired, so I dropped the dough for the TRD Exhaust and intake. Here is how I feel: Down low, there is a lot more noise, and the tone is very nice. However, moving up high, it is slightly louder than stock, but the tone fades to that of the stock exhaust. Interestingly, while noticibly louder at low RPM's and on start up (especially cold start ), I don't hear it so much when simply idling in traffic, but it gets much louder as soon as I hit the throttle. There is also slight and nice burble upon let off at any RPM. My friend has a BRZ with a muffler delete and Ebay axle-back. It is loud and poppy, which is cool, but I prefer the tone of my exhaust. It is not too horrible at hwy speeds (60-80) although it is noticeable inside the cabin, and I'm a little nervous about the first long trip in it with the girlfriend. Personally, I do not regret it. It sounds nice in and outside the car. On a side note, I read somewhere that the TRD intake reduces the intake sound inside the cabin (no sound tube) the only noise I don't here anymore is some of the more stressing engine noise, whereas I can here my throttle open up quite nicely now. Is the TRD pricey? Yes. However, paying for a new engine by myself is far more pricey. It's hard to put a cash value on peace of mind. That being said, if I was not under warranty, I would have bought something less expensive with cash left over for a header. It is nice looking, well made, and provides a good tone. |

Here's a video I made (With HD Audio) of the Perrin 2.5" Cat Back system, everything else stock. Cold start / Warm Start / Revs / Idle included in the video.
