It'll throw off the VE enough that you'll probably end up in limp mode (the car will think something is severely wrong).

Wow, check this out! A Vortech SC was able to hit 300WHP at the wheels.

You think we can get these numbers with JRSC?

Doesn't look like he had any fuel mods either. Just exhaust mods...

That Vortech car did 266 with Just the kit. I'm curious as to his baseline NA.

O.o

That's over 400 at the crank based on the baseline.... that's some serious power!

What kind of fueling mods did you have to do?

On stock injectors and pump, afr was leaning out past 7000 rpms. So, my rev limitter had to have a 6800 cutt off.

Im now on 700cc DW injectors and 265 l/hr fuel pump.

I maxed the maf with only a catback (both cats in place) on the jrsc kit I tuned. It was hitting 5v almost exactly at redline on the first run.

Ya not going to lie, I don't fully understand why I repeadiately read cases of "running out of room" MAF wise with the Rotrex kits. I'd like to know and understand what can be done or changed to make everything run with headroom. As well possibly what design changes need to take place for tuners to not have to do SD hybrid tunes etc....

Obviously these kits work, there are some work arounds to but... Was this just an oversight by both Rotrex kit makers or ...?

Yeah, I am super confused now... What's the BEST way to get this done the first time? I am looking to pick this kit up in the next few months and now I'm not sure what I'll need.

I'll attempt this, but with the caveat that my knowledge on this is limited.

The reason for the issue is the size of the MAF housing. The MAF sensor, to my knowledge, doesn't actually measure the total mass of the air but the air's velocity. The size of the tube the MAF sensor is in allows the mass of the air to be extrapolated from that velocity.Using a larger housing allows for a larger maximum mass air flow because the flow velocity is lower for the same volume or mass of air per unit time, thanit would be for a smaller housing.

The only change that would be required to fix this is a larger MAF housing, and ensure the air doesn't become too turbulent as it enter and exits the new sized housing. One of the work arounds for the time being is to limit air velocity so the sensor doesn't go out of range. (you should never be at the limit of a sensor as A you don't know if the actual system has exceeded the maximum output of the sensor, and B most sensors lose a lot of accuracy in the last 10%ish of their range) The other work around is to use a mass air flow/manifold absolute pressure hybrid tune. Basically the system uses both systems, but relies on one or the other in the air flow ranges where those systems work best, in this setup.
