Mine works fine! When I put it in the "rapid" heating mode it heats up fairly quickly and are consistently heated. Since it is cold and winter here, I'm glad I have these!
Those who sat in my car can feel it heat up to a comfortable level too.

is there a thermostat or something built into the seats to prevent it from getting too hot?

Tried it on my ride home and wow, this thing gets pretty damn toasty. Pretty sure it was cooking my balls on low, so I turned it off.

My seat heaters work great! No complaints here. Albeit I live in SoCal and only use the in the early AM when heading to the gym. For me they always stay at just the right temperature.

Yea the MK6 went to a push-button located on the HVAC temperature and location control knobs that turned them on (1), then up a notch for medium (2), and a final one for extra crispy (3).

Mine are also quite inconsistent, 95% of the time they're just kind of Meh warm then every once in a while I get a nice burst of heat that feels fantastic.
Has anyone tried talking to a dealership about this? It almost seems like it could be a flaw in the thermostat for these(Assuming it has one). I also have back problems that heat helps so I would really love to get these working better. |

the heated seats in my 2013 brz limited are nowhere near as hot as my 2011 outback. On the high setting I can leave it there for 30 minutes before I even think about turning it off. On my outback I can leave it for 5 minutes and then it's uncomfortable.

I like them the way they are, low is perfect just a bit of heat and not nuff too cook the potatos and veg. When seats are too hot i always get sick from it, something my body does not like, too much heat in the core not nuff in the extremities. Could be from the possible cycling of on and off, way too hot then it turns off and cools down then way too hot again, who knows...

The heated seats are terrible in the BRZ compared to other cars. Even my mom's old 98 Forester heated seats were better.
They come on and you get the heat for maybe 5 minutes max and then it turns itself off for 15-20min and you can feel it again sometimes. Being someone that has neck/back problems, it's a real bummer that they don't work very well for long drives. Oh well.....can't have everything I guess :P |

They work great for keeping takeout food warm in the passenger seat, just wrap in foil. Wish I had heated seats when I delivered pizza forty years ago.
