Uhm what? They owned up to it when? After the hit and run? Or after you tracked them down?

Well I had to track them down and the police notified them and gave them the option to come in peacefully and interview. I then met with the suspects and they admitted it after running, I felt like they were just kids who panicked and got scared because they wrecked their parents brand new bmw.

Hopefully you got their information and unleashed your insurance company on them. Sad matter of fact is that whoever was driving probably isn't the product of good parenting anyways, and will likely not suffer any consequences of this idiotic act.

Did they apologize and offer to pay for the damage? Or will you just go through insurance. Either way hope things are fixed soon and made right.

I know my natural reaction would have been to put the hurt on those kids for being dumb and make sure it was a painful learning experience for them, but kudos to you for meeting them face to face and taking a milder approach. Sometimes it takes meeting in person to see that someone who wronged you, has a human side and people make mistakes, not everything is black and white and not every wrong deserves criminal charges or a lawsuit.
