I think, I'll pass out driving other course (acrophobia) lol

Upset and being annoyed by utter nuisance are two different things.

a buzzing fly lingering is more akin to the nuisance.

Or was that a troll? but you stated, you're not trolling in OP. Or was that a question?

WTF does your MR2 got any with this thread? Same as Subie don't give a f'ck about making F1 engine.

Porsche 917 was great. Why they didn't make it more or put money into it? Cuz THEY'RE WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!! HIGHLY MAINTEMANCE COST, CRAPPY PERFORMANCE THAN OTHER ENGINE, CAN'T GET ANY POWER & TOO DAMN HEAVY!

Attack on your MR2? Who would do such thing? Heavens no! Those Toyota hater must be banned! SMH If you think, I was attacking on your MR2, you need to calm down & re-read my posts. You stated, you don't sugarcoat it, so I follow same way as you, Don't sugarcoat it... but you think, I'm attacking your MR2? It was blunt question without attacking on your MR2.

I can keep going, but I feel bad, so I'll keep it simple for you.

It doesn't matter how much Subaru fanboys say, fact remains:
They took 1st 2yrs in the row in VLN 24hrs in their class.
WRC, they were King.
Set a record as fastest 4-dr (stock) in the Nur.
Subaru don't give a shit about F1.
Boxer engine fail hard as F1 engine.
No, Subaru isn't planning to make H10 or even H12 engine.
Subaru finally found where their market is, so they don't give a shit about other market (as of now).

If those fact come to you as joke, don't take Subaru seriously. It'll be waste of time.

Yeah weight is the biggest different it makes into any cars, but AWD, less weight they need to move it, easier on AWD system
All that is true except Subaru never built an F1 engine. It was out sourced to Alfa Romero based company that built F1 engines n it was pretty much DOA

Any vehicles can be driven on dirt and gravel. But Subaru however is almost invincible on any stupid road, that most of other cars would have their wheels spin and spin and spin...except wrangler.

Subaru has always been the champ in rally, and manufacturing vehicles are their niche brands. While Rallying, they carry down the technologies into production vehicles, and they do things in their own style. That is why Subaru is different. Subaru ain't doing what the people want them do, Subaru do the things that makes people love them.

The only thing bad about Subaru is their engine...they were designed to last the event...not like a Zombie....as where Toyota and Honda designed their Engines to be Zombie like....it will keep on running, unless you shoot it brain out.

Beside that, driving a Subaru is unique to others. I don't know what to say, but simply put, every movements the car make on the road, you feel it. It is like a live partner...not a mechanical car

Only thing I disagree with whitigir on is that other manufacturers build engines to last many events for racing. Toyota, Chevy, Dodge, and Ford engines are all torn down and rebuilt after a Nascar event. In big money racing it pays to service an engine whenever possible as having a bearing wearing prematurely or a valve spring going weak could cost a lot more then a rebuild. Also Subaru production engines are known to run for ever with proper care. My local forum has many 200k+ cars on it, including a WRX on occasion.

It seems the WRX and STI usually have engine problems, ringland ?, I don't know, but the consumer report and motor trend, all rate the Subaru as below average for reliability

I think the wrx/sti are pretty reliable stock, and the naturally aspirated engines will go forever (unless you get one of the ones from a couple years back that has head gasket issues).

I find consumer report to be a bit of a joke. Every auto manufacturer has problems with engines, look at the ford diesel trucks. While GM and Dodge(Ram) has used the same basic engines for a long time Ford keep building something "better" because the last wasn't good enough.

As for the problems with ringlands in the WRX and STi, I have only seen it in cars which had minor upgrades like an intake and exhaust. Solved by buying forged pistons, as the factory ones were junk.

The EJ25D which had head gasket issues was solved by using multi layer steel head gaskets, which wasn't normally needed until the car hit 100k. That is about the same time the timing belt and water pump needs to be replaced.

I will cross my fingers, as I have never owned a Subaru in my life, but it became an addiction once I test drove the 14 STI. I was about to buy it in a snap....but I hold back, knowing the 15 will come.

I can not forget the Unique feelings I had in the STI. Never had those feeling with other vehicles, not even the Evo X. The feelings of able to tell what the vehicle is doing, what wheel is spinning, what direction the vehicle is turning....etc. I can tell these feelings are not great for a long drive, through states....or whatsoever....these feelings are the feelings of a True Sport Car....Raw....Funs

I knew I liked it, because when I stepped out of the car, I realized I was grinning like a maniac, and it kept lingering on.....

Dang impressive considering I have never owned a Subaru.

Ringland usually cause by owner putting more boost without proper tuning & upgrade of internal. Boxer engine a bitch, when upgrading. It's not like JZ engine that can handle the high boost.

As long as you tune & upgrade it properly, boxer engine will last you forever... well, it can be said about all the engine out there, but specially for boxer engine.

Entertaining thread. Sort of. Toyota fanboi vs Subaru fanbois.

I will leave this here. It is not F1( ehh, who cars?) or WRC but it IS a roadracing Subie (2 car team actually).

Production car racing is what I care about. Where the hell is Toyota (Scion)? They have the one FR-S driven by Robert Stout which failed to finish (or even start) the majority of its races last season.

I am not a big Subaru fan but the fact is, Toyota fans do not have much to cheer about in the realm of motorsports. Toyota has become The Camry Company. It seems they are trying to change that image but I have heard that story before. Remember the Genesis Project which eventually gave birth to Scion?
