You don't seem to like the engine in your car and have to complain about the manufacturer who built it and question why they don't do certain things. I own a BRZ because it is the driving experience I want and when doing research on the engine design I liked what I saw. I have a degree in marine engineering(more importantly I work as a licensed engineer running ships at sea) so I do a lot of digging. Everything checked out with the car, the only problem that popped up in my mind is the direct injector seals and HPFP. You like your MR2, one perk must be how easy it is to do something like spark plugs. On a boxer engine it is easier to get more power with DOHC which places the plugs where they are. On an older SOHC boxer it takes less then 30 minutes to do spark plugs.

Companies do what they want to do. Subaru has become an AWD brand. In the automated emails I get from them it only mentions that, nothing about the BRZ. They are going to do the things that help sell their brand best. Rally and rallycross do that best.

You seemed to get hurt when people flamed you for comparing Subaru to Toyota based on their racing history.

I respect your view. I guess it's probably best to just say that Subaru's are best left for dirt where they thrive and they never had nor will ever be interested the road racing world?

Pretty much complimenting what I was getting at in racing, developing, and improving through top level racing outside WRC.

But I guess it's been established that Subaru guys go straight for dirt only. Road racing prototype, nahhh. Save that for Audi, Toyota, Honda, Ferrari, and Peugeot.

Well, it could pretty easily now that they've paved it the whole way up.

I'm still a bit sad about that - it makes it more fun and doable in sports cars during the summer, but at the same time, the racing isn't nearly as exciting or amazing to watch as it was when the road was largely dirt

I have to say, I have mixed feelings about it. I think it's more fun to drive up now than it used to be, but the racing is not as good as it used to be either. I would highly, highly recommend driving up it if you're ever in Colorado though, especially if you're in a handling-focused sports car

(I'll definitely be heading down there sometime this summer when the weather is nice)
